Pokemon Sleep is implementing a level cap on Pokemon, Research Rank, recipes, and main skills that may be increased in future updates. Read on to find out the all the current max level caps, upgrade limits, max area bonus, and all other maximum limits in Pokemon Sleep.
Limit to Update | Max Limits |
---|---|
Pokemon | 55 → 60 |
Research Rank | 55 → 60 |
Recipes | 55 → 60 |
Main Skills: • Ingredient Magnet S • Extra Helpful S • Cooking Power-Up S |
6 → 7 |
Ingredients Pocket | 600 → 700 |
Max levels for other main skills will be adjusted in the future.
The maximum level limit for research rank, Pokemon level, main skills, recipe level, and ingredient bag capacity were increased in the August 1 update, (Version 1.10.0).
Can Level Up | Level Cap |
---|---|
Pokemon | 60 |
Research Rank | 60 |
Recipes | 60 |
Main Skills | 6-7 |
Despite having a visibly higher possible maximum level since Pokemon sub skill unlocks go up to level 100, Pokemon currently cannot be leveled up beyond level 60. This means that their level 75 and 100 sub skills cannot be unlocked yet.
This limit is expected to increase little by little in future updates, though we likely won't get to the level 100 max limit for a long while.
If you go to sleep with a Pokemon that can no longer level up, the EXP it would normally gain will instead be added into the Sleep EXP Bonus Gauge. Earning 500 EXP in this bonus gauge rewards you with one Handy Candy S.
At the moment, it appears as though Pokemon Friendship levels, which increase as you befriend more Pokemon of the same species, are not capped.
Increasing Pokemon Friendship levels allow you to get better sub skills for that Pokemon species, so it's a good idea to befriend multiple of the same Pokemon.
Unlike other Pokemon, the special Night Cap Pikachu you can obtain by using the Pokemon GO Plus + device does have a Friendship level cap at level 20.
Your Research Rank, which serves as your personal level, is currently capped at level 60. Upon reaching the level cap, the research EXP you receive during sleep research will be converted into Dream Shards.
All recipes are currently capped at level 60. The higher a recipe's level is, the higher the bonus you get when cooking that recipe.
Only recipes that can be registered are able to be leveled up, which means that Mixed Salad, Mixed Juice, and Mixed Curry cannot increase their level or offer bonuses when made.

All other main skills are currently capped at level 6, but the level cap will be increased to 7 for all skills in future updates.
Main skills can be leveled up by using a Main Skill Seed or by evolving your Pokemon. The Skill Level Up S and M sub skills also allow your Pokemon to have an increased main skill level..
List of All Main Skills and Effects
Upgrade | Max Expansion Limit |
---|---|
Ingredients Pocket | 700 |
Items Pocket | 800 |
Pokemon Box | TBD |
Cooking Pot | 57 (290 Sleep Styles) |
You can purchase upgrades for your bag's ingredients pocket until you reach the maximum limit of 700. This limit is expected to increase as time goes on.
The bag's items pocket is separate from the ingredients pocket and can be upgraded to hold up to 800 items. This was increased from 600 to 700 in the Version 1.3.0 update and increased to 800 in the Version 1.8.0 update.
Both the items pocket and ingredients pocket of your bag can be expanded using Diamonds.
There is currently no known limit for Pokemon Box expansions. It could be 600, similar to the Ingredients Pocket, or it could be able to hold thousands of Pokemon like in Pokemon GO.
Since there is only a limited number of Pokemon that can be encountered in a day in Pokemon Sleep, we may not have a need for an expansion of the Pokemon Box max limit just yet.
The maximum limit of your cooking pot depends on how many Sleep Styles you've discovered. The current maximum cooking pot limit is 57 for 290 Sleep Styles.
Take note that this is just the maximum limit for permanent cooking pot expansions. The cooking pot can have increased capacity temporarily through the Cooking Power-Up skill, Good Camp Set, or the Sunday end-of-week bonus.
Sleep Styles Found | Max Cooking Pot Limit |
---|---|
Less than 35 | 15 |
35 | 21 |
70 | 27 |
110 | 33 |
150 | 39 |
190 | 45 |
240 | 51 |
290 | 57 |
Each Sleep Style Dex goal has an expanded max cooking pot limit. Starting from when you first unlock the ability to expand the cooking pot at 35 Sleep Styles, you can expand your cooking pot twice per Sleep Style Dex goal by using Dream Shards. Each expansion increases the cooking pot limit by 3.
All Sleep Style Dex Goals, Unlocks, and Rewards
Feature | Max Limit |
---|---|
Area Bonus | 60% |
Research Community Friends | 50 |
Research Reports | 50 |
Research Community Closeness | 5 |
Each research area has an area bonus cap of 60%. After completing a week on an island, you get a +5% area bonus for your next stay on that island, which means you that after 12 weeks on one island, you should reach the cap.
As of Version 1.10.0, area bonuses received after reaching the max limit in an island will go to a different island that hasn't yet reached the cap.
You can only have a maximum of 50 friends in your Research Community. Once you've reached this limit, other people can no longer add you to their Research Community even if they know your Researcher ID.
Having a Research Community allows you to obtain Pokemon Candies as well as items. If you're interested in adding more friends, check out our Research Community Friend Code Request Board or the Game8 Pokemon Discord.
How to Add Friends and Benefits
You can receive up to 50 research reports from your Research Community per day. This is enough to accommodate one report per friend per day if you have the maximum number of friends in your community.
Each research report rewards you with Pokemon Candy when you open your Research Community menu, which means you can receive over 50 Pokemon Candies per day without even doing a sleep session.
Research Community Friend Code Request Board
At the moment, you can only reach up to a level 5 closeness level with your Research Community friends. Reaching this level rewards you with two Handy Candy S.
This maximum closeness level will likely be increased in the future, though getting to level 5 closeness with 50 friends does already shower you with a lot of rewards.
