Pokemon Sleep can be played without sleeping! Learn how to play Pokemon Sleep while doing your day-to-day activities and being wide awake here!
List of Contents
It is possible to play Pokemon Sleep, raise your Snorlax, and catch them all while staying wide awake. This is a good way of acquiring your favorite Pokemon while making it through your daily activities such as work or school!
This will have more to do with adjusting your phone's physical position and functions to synergize with the app's recording features to get your desired sleep type.
It's important to keep in mind that Pokemon Sleep allows for the recording of two sleep sessions per day, each for a minimum of 90 minutes. This resets at 4AM the next day, so be sure to track your sessions prior to that time to not miss any encounters!
Depending on your daily schedule, one of these sessions should always be your regular sleep session, or your 8 hour sleep. The other one will be used either for a mid-day nap, or to get a sleep type and its respective Pokemon without a wink of sleep.
Purchasing the Premium Pass comes with benefits such as earning one Sleep Point for every sleep score you acquire during your sleep session. Sleep Points can be exchanged for various rewards!
Additionally, if you miss tracking one sleep session, you can track a previous sleep session once per day within the past 30 hours. That way, you can get you Sleep Point, however, you will miss out on encountering new Pokemon.
While it is very possible to play Pokemon Sleep awake, it is still advisable that players get ample rest and play the game during their regular sleep cycles as well. Pokemon Sleep is designed to track sleep, so it would be wise to take advantage of it.

Slumbering Sleep Type | Snoozing Sleep Type |
Dozing Sleep Type | Balanced Sleep Type |
There are two things to note when playing Pokemon Sleep awake. First, you must have your device face down on a soft surface like the bed or the couch. This will cause the screen go dark and conserve the device's power as you sleep.
Second, you must not lock your device or put it to sleep. This will reset your recording progress and will result in no sleep sessions being found.
The alternative to attaining this sleep type is by leaving your phone untouched for at least 90 minutes. This will register your sleep as completely still and no noise emitted whatsoever.
The Slumbering Sleep Type is characterized by sleeping through the night undisturbed, with little to no movement or noise. This may seem easy for some people, but our bodies tend to respond naturally to reflexes.
Slumbering Sleep Type Full Guide
When playing awake, you must place your phone on your lap or beside you on your bed while moving occassionally to simulate movement. If possible, try listening to music that makes you sing the lyrics, provided that you don't actually belt it out.
The Snoozing Sleep Type is one of the most realistic sleep types one can achieve, involving a moderate amount of movement and noise while sleeping through the night, with minimal to no wakes. This should be attainable during your regular sleep.
Snoozing Sleep Type Full Guide
This one is a little trickier than most. You must place your phone somewhere where it can record as much movement and noise as possible. Remember to light up your screen by lifting it up or tapping it to tell the app that you've somehow quot;awoken".
Constant movement is key here, so if you need to gyrate on your seat to simulate constant movement, you might have to do so.
The Dozing Sleep Type is potentially the most difficult one to get unless you naturally have trouble getting a good night's sleep. It is characterized by frequent wakes, movement, and noises throughout the night.
When awake, instead of putting your device on your lap where movement can be substantial, try putting it on your chair beside you, then work or study as you normally would. Your mild movements should be enough to meet the requirements.
Should your activity involve reading, don't be afraid to read some passage out loud on occasion to simulate noise such as sleeptalking.
The Balanced Sleep Type, much like the Snoozing Sleep Type, is a common sleep type to achieve. It requires a reasonable amount of movement and noise, with very occasional wakes, presumably to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
It's a combination of all three sleep types, sitting somewhere in the middle between all of them. Hence, sleeping naturally is the best course of action.

As part of the Catching Some Z's event in Pokemon GO, players are tasked to participate in the Special Research to get up to 5 rare Snorlax in a nightcap. This involves tracking your sleep for a total of 35 days using the new Pokemon GO Plus Plus (+) device.
Despite that, players can get Nightcap Snorlax much earlier. However, do take note that this only works on iOS so far. We are still researching ways on how to make this work on Android devices, so please stay tuned!
