The Pokemon Sleep Water Type Week event will be held from August 19 to 26! This event introduces Wooper and Quagsire and increases the encounter rate of all the Water-type Pokemon in the game. Two new Water-type Pokemon, Wooper and Quagsire, can be encountered in the game starting from August 19, the first day of the event, at 3 PM local time!
These two Pokemon will be available on Greengrass Isle, Cyan Beach, and Taupe Hollow.
The Water Type Week event will be very helpful in preparing for the Suicune Research Event to be held in early September, where Water-type Pokemon will be more effective helpers.
If you don't have a lot of Water types in your Pokemon Box, use the Water Type Week Event to build your Water helper team. You can also focus on gathering Pokemon Candy for your Water-type Pokemon and level them up quickly with help from the Mini Candy Boost function.
During the Water Type Week Event, there will always be at least one hungry Pokemon during snack time after your first sleep session of the day. Hungry Pokemon are guaranteed to get either a Big Hit (x3 Biscuit effect) or a Mega Hit (automatic max Friendship) when given a Biscuit, allowing you to more easily befriend them.
Take note that this guaranteed hungry Pokemon is separate from the guaranteed hungry Pokemon you get from Friend Incense or from the Good Camp Set.

The Mini Candy Boost function makes its return during Water Type Week, similar to how it worked during Fire Type Week and Electric Type Week.
Using the Mini Candy Boost to level up your Pokemon doubles EXP gains from Candy while using only 4 times more Dream Shards (compared to the regular Candy Boost's 6), but you can only use up to 50 Candies per day.
Take note that this feature is automatically turned on during the event. However, you can manually toggle it off on the level up screen. Also take note that Candy Boost is affected by EXP Natures.
During the Water Type Week event, it's recommended to use the Mini Candy Boost function to level up your Water-type Pokemon and make a strong team for the Suicune Research event.

There are special limited-time event missions during the Water Type Week event that will be available alongside the regular weekly missions. All missions remain the same regardless of which island you choose for the week.
The reward expected for getting Snorlax to Basic 2 is Wooper Incense, which allows you to automatically encounter the new Pokemon Wooper after a sleep session.

No Water-type Pokemon are currently available at Taupe Hollow, so it is not recommended to go here during the Water Type Week event.
The best research area for the Water Type Week event is Cyan Beach if you want to see all of the Water types available in the game. This is the only island that has all of the Water-type Pokemon, including Slowking and Golduck which aren't available elsewhere.
Cyan Beach also gives you the best opportunities to gather Candies for your Water types, since you're bound to find most, if not all, of them during sleep research for the week. This makes it the best island for preparing your Suicune Research team.
Cyan Beach Area Dex and How to Unlock
If you want only the new Pokemon, Wooper and Quagsire, to have the increased encounter chance, go to Taupe Hollow. They are the only featured Pokemon in that area, so they won't have to compete with anyone else for attention.
Taupe Hollow Area Dex and How to Unlock
All Water-type Pokemon will have a greater appearance rate during Water Type Week. You can expect to encounter these Pokemon more frequently when you stay in one of their habitat islands.
Since Pokemon of various sleep types appear during sleep research for this event, you don't have to worry about aiming for the Slumbering Sleep Type when you start a sleep session. It will be as if you get a Balanced Sleep Type during sessions in terms of the types of Pokemon you encounter.
