How to Get Fossils

Use Dowsing Machine and Rock Smash

Fossils can be found by breaking Glowing rocks, which can be much easier to find with the help of the Dowsing Machine and a Pokemon with the Search specialty.

After finding a Glowing rock, use Rock Smash to break it, and then pick up the dropped items using Inhale or by manually picking it up.

Use Magnet Rise

Once you reach later stages of the game, you can use Magnet Rise to fly up and scout Islands for glowing rocks that are on the surface.

You can also use the Zap ability along with Magnet Rise to quickly destroy glowing rocks and pick up items within.

Magnet Rise Guide

Fast Forward Time to Refresh Glowing Spots

You can also fast forward time after clearing all Glowing Rocks to allow new ones to spawn.

This is best used alongside Magnet Rise, while focusing on clearing only surface Glowing Rocks, to cut down the time from hunting treasure spots using the Dowsing Machine.
