When looking for Ancient Artifacts, check for blocks with glowing spots. Breaking these blocks has a chance of dropping a Large Lost Relic, a Small Lost Relic, or Fossils.

If you have the Dowsing Machine, you can use it with any Pokemon that have the Search ability to locate all of the blocks with glowing spots.

After finding a Large or Small Lost Relic, bring it to Professor Tangrowth for appraisal, and you will receive a random relic.

Ancient artifacts are primarily used for decoration. Most large relics can be displayed in the space you have, while smaller relics can be framed. If you collect all of the fossil parts, you can arrange them and set them out to have a large fossil display.

You can trade the large and small lost relics for furniture with Gimmighoul.
To do this, simply bring the relics you wish to trade, speak with Gimmighoul, and select the I bought you something cool! option, followed by the relics you want to part with.

Gimmighoul can be found in the museum at Rocky Ridges mine.
To get to the museum, you'll need to progress the Rocky Ridges main story until you learn the enhanced Cut move. Here's how you can get to the museum.
Aside from the relics, Gimmighoul also accepts the Silver Feather and Rainbow Feather for trade.

Some Lost Relics and Fossils are also needed when setting up a habitat for Pokemon to spawn in.
