Specialties are jobs that each Pokemon is capable of doing once you befriend them. With these, they will be able to do various jobs and tasks around the map, which is helpful if you are doing a lot of things.
For example, when you want to build something, you will be required to assign a Pokemon with a Build specialty to work on the construction.
When a Pokemon is currently using its Specialty to help you, it might get hungry in the middle of its job, and stop working. Then, it will ask you for some food to regain its energy. Once given any food, it will go back to work
This scenario might happen with Pokemon with Water, Grow, and Gather Specialty.
