How to Get Sturdy Sticks
Obtained While Exploring
Sturdy sticks can be found scattered across the ground in several different areas. You can find them as early as Withered Wasteland.

Use Cut on Wooden Objects
Using Cut on wooden objects like trees and stumps will produce sturdy sticks. These objects can drop other items as well so be sure to keep an eye out for the sticks.
Plant Seeds for More Trees
Trees produce a lot of useful items and are needed for certain habitats, so be sure to keep replanting seeds. This will prevent you from running out of trees, just keep in mind that they take some time to grow.
Seeds drop from trees after cutting them down so don't forget to pick them up. Some Pokemon may also give you seeds as a gift after befriending them.
Dropped by Cacturne
Cacturne can produce sturdy sticks after you befriend them. Be sure to check around their home if you are looking for extra sturdy sticks.

Used for Crafting
Many different crafting recipes use sturdy sticks. This includes the Ditto flag, an item used to mark your home in an area.

Power Up Furnaces
Sturdy sticks can also be placed inside a furnace to power it up. Furnaces serve as generators that provide power to other structures such as streetlights and vending machines.
This is especially useful for the Brighten Things Up request in Bleak Beach.
