How to Get Strange Strings
Chance to Drop When Breaking Glowing Spots
Strange Strings have a small chance to drop when smashing glowing spots with the move Rock Smash. Take note that, in addition to Strange Strings, you can also get Relics, Fossils, Mysterious Slates, Dolls, or Armor Fragments.
Use the Dowsing Machine

Use the Dowsing Machine to look for additional Glowing Spots. To start searching, you must first have a Pokemon with a Search Specialty follow you.
We recommend the ones that can fly or float because landlocked Pokemon can become stranded if you swim or fly around.
Give Mosslax Bitter Food
Giving Mosslax Bitter food, such as a Salad with Leaf and Seaweed Ingredients, increases the likelihood of obtaining rare items!
Trade with Gimmighoul
Trade relics and feathers with Gimmighoul for a chance to obtain Strange Strings.
To do this, simply bring the relics you wish to trade, speak with Gimmighoul, and select the I bought you something cool! option, followed by the relics you want to part with.

Where to Find Gimmighoul
Gimmighoul can be found in the museum at Rocky Ridges mine.
To get to the museum, you'll need to progress the Rocky Ridges main story until you learn the enhanced Cut move. Here's how you can get to the museum.
- From the Pokemon Center, head right past the pond until you reach the mine entrance.
- Used the enhanced Cut move to remove the fence gate.
- Follow the railway tracks until you reach the mine's lava level.
- You should notice the museum just across the boulder and lava lake.
How to Use Strange Strings
Used to Craft Guitars
Currently, Strange Strings can only be used to make two items in the game: Cool electric guitar and Cool bass guitar. Both are required when creating the Amped rock stage and Low-key rock stage habitats.
When you get your first Strange Strings, you will immediately receive the recipe for both guitars!
