Players Can Explore Both Areas

Bleak Beach

Ultimately, the choice will be based on gameplay preference, as you can still explore and develop the area that you did not choose first. You can progress the storylines of each area simultaneously without any consequences.

Go to Rocky Ridges For Rollout and Smelting Furnace

Using Rollout

Progressing through the Rocky Ridges storyline first will give you earlier access to Rollout and the Smelting Furnace.

Rollout can help you move around and break blocks faster. This can be learned by befriending Graveler.

On the other hand, the Smelting Furnace can turn your ore items into ingots.

Go to Bleak Beach to Get Iron Ore

Getting Iron Ore From Trubbish
Progressing through the Bleak Beach storyline first will give you earlier access to iron ore. They can be obtained through destroying certain debris in the overworld or giving Trubbish nonburnable garbage.

You will need iron ore to create utility poles. These can be connected to certain power sources in order to power items that need electricity. Iron ore is also needed to create iron ingots, though you will need the Smelting Furnace in order to obtain them.

Reach Great Trainer Rank

Increasing Trainer Rank to Great

You will need to increase your Trainer Rank to Great in order to unlock Bleak Beach and Rocky Ridges. To do this, you will need to progress the story by completing the Yawn up a storm! request.

After completing the request, you will meet Kyogre and increase your rank.

How to Increase Trainer Rank

Go Past the Green Gates

Unlock New Areas

Once you have increased your Trainer Rank, go to one of the green gates found in the area. After scanning your Pokedex, you may go through the gates and visit the new area.

Bleak Beach Gate Location

Gate Leading to Bleak Beach
The gate to Bleak Beach is found to the east of Withering Wasteland. It is in the area with the cliffs near the small vegetable field.

Rocky Ridges Gate Location

Gate Leading to Rocky Ridges

The gate to Rocky Ridges is found to the west of the area. It is found within the dark cave that is by the sea.
