How to Use Dowsing Machine
Search for Treasures
Dowsing Machine is primarily used to search for treasures and ancient artifacts. In order to start searching, you must first have a Pokemon that has a Search Specialty to follow you.

How to Start Searching with the Dowsing Machine

| 1 |  Look for a Pokemon with a Search Specialty. Pidgey is a good example of a Pokemon that has a Search Specialty. |
| 2 |  Select the Dowsing Machine from your Inventory to equip it. |
| 3 |  Walk around while holding the Dowsing Machine. Pay attention to the Pokemon as they will indicate if there is a treasure nearby. Start digging by using Rock Smash to unveil the treasure. |

Ancient Artifacts
Ancient Artifacts such as Lost Relics and Fossils can be acquired from searching with the Dowsing Machine, with Lost Relics needing to be brought to Professor Tangrowth in order to be appraised for its proper value.
Keep in mind that Lost Relics have a chance of detonating upon unearthing, requiring you to use Water Gun to defuse it before it explodes.

CDs
CDs are special items acquired from searching with Dowsing Machine that can be used to change the music that plays in the town. The player must have previously met DJ Rotom for this option to be available.
Mysterious Slates
A collectible that can be acquired by searching with Dowsing Machine is Mysterious Slates. They can be attached to the Mysterious Mural found in Withered Wasteland. You will need to match them according to the Unknown Alphabet found on the back of the slate.
Matching all 27 Slates to the correct symbols will unlock a surprise.

Dolls
Dolls can also be acquired through the Dowsing Machine. These are various items that can be presented to Drifloon to transport you to a Dream Island. Every doll will transport you to a specific island featuring distinct materials to gather.

Where to Find Search Pokemon
Set Up New Habitats
Set up habitats that can attract Pokemon with the Search Specialty, with the easiest one being the Pretty flower bed Habitat! The Pretty flower bed habitat can attract Pidgey which is easy to befriend due to its common rarity.
Additionally, Drilbur can be befriended by heading east from the Withered Wasteland, and only requires 8 Vegetable Fields for its habitat.

By completing the Check what's up there request, you will be rewarded with the Dowsing Machine!
The request will come from Hitmonchan while looking up located on the left side of Withered Wasteland.
