Once Human How to Defeat Shadow Enemies

The Shadow Enemies in Once Human can only be damaged and defeated after exposing them to special lamps. Learn how to defeat shadow enemies and where to get the Gazocchio item that can dispel the shadows in this guide!

Lure Them to the Special Lampposts

You must first dispel the shadow from shadow enemies before you can damage them normally with your weapons. As there are no other means to do this the first time you encounter them, you must use the special lampposts in the area.

The special lampposts you're looking for have distortions around the light source. Simply lure the shadow enemies to its light and they will quickly be rid of the shadow and be vulnerable.

Use the Gazocchio Item

In some areas, you will encounter these shadow enemies but with no special lampposts in sight. For these encounters, you need an item produced by the Gazocchio deviant.

You can either complete the Deviant - Gazocchio quest to get it, or just continuously defeat shadow enemies until one of them drops the deviant. A good farming spot for the deviant is on the northeast corner of Wish Land - West.

Place the Gazocchio in a Securement Unit

Gazocchio item

Bring the Gazocchio deviant back to your base and place it in an Isolated Securement Unit. Wait for it to produce a Gazocchio item and claim it when it's ready.

Equip the Gazocchio Item from the Hotbar

Once you have the Gazocchio item, place it in your hotbar and equip it like how you use throwables (e.g. grenades, molotov cocktails). Use the Gazocchio's flash to remove the shadow around the shadow enemies.

Some Targets Require Prolonged Exposure

The bigger the target is, the longer they should be exposed to the light before the shadow is removed. This applies to both enemies and obstacles enveloped in shadow.
