Players can farm Acid in Once Human by making an Acid farm, or through other methods like defeating enemies or crafting Acid at a Synthesis Bench. Find out how to get Acid, how to make an automatic Acid farm, and its uses in this guide!

Steps for Making an Automatic Acid Farm |
---|
|
To create a nearly fully-automatic Acid Farm, players need to construct a Water Pump in an area that is polluted by Stardust. This pump will generate Polluted Water.
Entering polluted areas will reflect in the Pollution Level on the cradle, and also give the player a notification saying “The Stardust pollution is getting worse.”. Note that these areas also drain Sanity when entered.
Players will also need to have a constant supply of Dirty Water. This can be accomplished by building a Water Pump in non-polluted areas, or collecting from Water Tanks connected to Rainwater Collection Systems after it rains.
Players will then need to connect the Water Pump to a Water Tank to collect the water, then to a Purifier Facility.
The Reverse Osmosis Purifier is recommended, as it processes the Polluted Water faster, but all purifiers will yield Impure Acid from processing Polluted Water.
Similarly, players also need to purify Dirty Water in order to get Pure Water, to be used in the next step of the farm.
Connecting a Dirty Water Pump or a Rainwater Collection System to a Water Tank can automate the collection of Dirty Water, and the Tank can then be connected to a Purifier.
Once both Impure Acid and Pure Water are obtained, players can place both items into a Brewing Barrel, which will automatically produce Acid using 10 Impure Acid and 1 Pure Water every 20 minutes.
As the Impure Acid does not flow through pipes, players will have to manually add the Impure Acid into the Barrel. Pure Water, however, can be transferred via pipe, and can be automated accordingly.
Note that the facilities in this set-up use lots of Electricity in order to function.
Players will need to ensure that their base has enough Generator Facilities, or they may need to construct more or upgrade existing ones with an Electric Eel to make use of this farming method.
List of Methods for Farming Acid |

Certain Deviated enemies, like Mayhems or Charred Maniacs can drop acid when defeated. Farming these enemies in settlements where they spawn in abundance is an easy, but labor-intensive method of getting Acid.
Preserved Deviated Chops are unlocked by activating the Dishes III node under the Logistics tab in Memetics, and increases Acid gain from slaying Deviant enemies by 50%.
Players can cook this dish at a Stove to make farming enemies for Acid a more efficient process.
Players with the Sulfur Chemist Memetic Specialization can create Acid at a Synthesis Bench using Sulfur and Energy Links. This is a simpler method of farming Acid, but requires the aforementioned Specialization.
Best Memetic Specializations Tier List
Memetic Specializations are gained every 5 levels, and players are provided with 4 random options from the pool of available Specializations to choose from.
This means that players are not guaranteed to find Sulfur Chemist when picking a new Specialization, and will need to be lucky enough to have this Specialization as a provided option if they are looking for it.
All Memetic Specializations List
Alternatively, players can construct an Acid Farm using Brewing Barrels. Players will need to use a Purifier facility to purify Polluted and Dirty Water, the former only being collected in areas with Stardust Pollution.
This will provide Impure Acid and Pure Water respectively, which are combined at a Brewing Barrel to make Acid.
The NPC Nisa can be found in multiple non-hostile towns, and sells Acid at her shop for Sproutlets. Note that the only way to get Sproutlets is through special PvP events, most notably the Cargo Scramble.
Acid Item Uses |
---|
|
Certain items and gear use Acid as a crafting material in their recipes. It is recommended to have a stockpile of Acid ready in case the player ever has need of such items.
Late-game ores like Aluminum and Tungsten require 1 Acid alongside the ore to refine into ingots at an Electric Furnace.
As these ores are used in abundance for crafting advanced items, and creating late-game facilities, a constant Acid supply will be needed to keep crafting such ingots.
Some facilities directly use Acid as a component in their building requirements. Having a supply of Acid at the ready means that players will have an easier time constructing these facilities should they need them.

Incredibly detailed guide, it helped me understand everything I needed to know about acid farming. Just one note on the phrase "Impure Acid does not flow through pipes". While it's true that you have to manually input Impure Acid into the Brewing Barrel (for some reason), the Impure Acid can still flow through pipes, since you can, for example, connect a pipe from the Purifier to the Water Tank and it will work.
