Though uncommon, Iron Ore deposits are also found in areas where other ore deposits like Copper and Tin can be found. These ore deposits are usually around clearings, bodies of water, and areas where a lot of plants grow.
Take note that you need at least a Bronze Pickaxe to harvest Iron Ores!
Iron Ore deposits are easy to miss as they can easily be mistaken as regular rocks, much like Sulfur whose deposits look like moss rocks. Keep an eye on rocks with rust-like stains on it when you run into different types of deposits!
If you're having trouble finding Iron Ores, try crafting a Curiosity Catcher II, unlocked by the Ore Detector II Memetic, first and activate it near a field with ore deposits!
A good spot to farm for Iron Ore is on an open field in Whalebone Cape, located on the west side of Vena Fjord. This area is filled with different type of ore deposits and includes higher tier ones like Aluminum and Tungsten.
The Digby Boy deviant can also mine Iron Ores for you even if your territory doesn't have an Iron Ore deposit!
The main purpose for Iron Ore is to be refined at a Furnace and turned into Steel Ingots.
These ingots can then be used to make advanced tools that surpass Copper and Tin ones, as well as other helpful items and facilities that will help with progression.
