As a Beastmaster, you can craft exclusive gear for your animal companions to boost their performance. Make sure to craft them all, except the Smart Helmet, which you can safely skip since it's easy to level up your Meta without it.
Since we’re running a Frost Vortex build, we'll use the Frost Mutagen, which grants your pets bonus Frost Damage. This damage doubles against enemies caught in your Frost Vortex, making it a perfect synergy for freezing and shredding foes.
Turning Pets into Elemental Beasts
If you’re running elemental builds like Frost Vortex, Burn, or Power Surge, be sure to equip matching elemental mutagens. It’s a grindy, laborious process as you'll need Mutant Strains, which means taming and slaughtering animals with the Mutant trait, but the payoff is huge. Firetrap Mutagen powers up the Burn Build, while Thunderbolt Mutagen supercharges Power Surge.

This armor setup shines when you open with your secondary Bull's Eye weapon to mark enemies, then follow up with Frost Vortex for massive burst damage. Earthly Boots boost your damage by 30% against marked targets, making your Frost combo hit even harder.
