How to Play as Beastmaster
Capture Animals to Assist You
As the Beastmaster, you will always want to capture animals to help you with progress and assist you in what you need. Animals have different Grades, which affects their traits.
Aim to get Grade S animals as they have the best traits in the game. You can check if an animal is Grade S if you press the "Detail" button once you get close to it.
Use Tranquilizers to Capture Animal
Craft tranquilizers and use it on animals once their health are below the indicated threshold (white/green/blue line on HP). Hit them with melee attacks or weaker weapons to ensure they won't die in the process.
You can then capture them and become part of your team.
Enhance Animals through Feeds
You can increase the level of your animals by feeding them Body Enhancement Feeds. You can only craft them via Intermediate or Advanced Stove.
The feeds are unlocked by default when you choose the Beastmaster Class.
Breed Animals to Get the Best Companions
Breeding animals will allow you to fuse their traits and get the best traits for their offspring. You will be able to keep getting new animals to help you, as well as get better companions in the game!
Note that each animal has a breeding limit indicated on their menu screen.
Craft Items for the Animals
You can craft various items for the animals to enhance their stats, productivity, and growth. You should prioritize getting equipment for the 3 companions you will bring along with you, then give the ones you left in your base after.
Feed Animals to Tame Them
Feed animals to increase their Tameness and increase their productivity and obedience. You can craft feeds through Intermediate and Advanced Stoves.
Best Animals to Capture
Starting Animals - Boar, Bear, and Wolf
All the starting animals are a great companion to start your journey as a Beastmaster. The boar can help with resource collection, the bear with taking hits, and wolf for damage.
You can choose one based on your personal preference. You can still get the others out in the wild, but you will have to look for a few if you want a Grade S animal.
Leopard
Leopard is one of the best animals to capture in Once Human due to its frequency to hit enemies, even if they are moving. There is also a high chance for the Leopard to hit floating enemies, making it a great animal to have for combat.
Fox
Foxes are smaller animals that are hard for enemies to hit and they usually don't try to attack them. Teaming up a fox with a bear would be ideal, as the bear can focus on taking the aggro while the fox deal damage.
