Causal or Normal difficulty is recommended

Bravely Default, while not the hardest RPG among the market, is still fairly difficult in its own right. For newer players, it is suggested to play on Casual difficulty or Normal first. The difficulty can be changed at any time, so if you feel that the current difficulty isn't for you, feel free to change it from the settings menu!

How to Change Difficulty

Change it in the settings menu.

Settings Menu
The settings menu offers several tools to change the game's mechanics to your liking. Options like camera movement, text speed, and even language settings can be changed here. To change the difficulty, head to the very bottom of the settings menu and press the left or right dpad (or tilt the move stick left or right) to change it.

I put the game on hard and steamroll through everything. Nothing is a challenge. The game gives you insanely high quality weapons if you know how to obtain them. You have to spend like 10 hours in the beginning for grinding to max out all your current jobs and get the weapon drops from those special monster bosses. It makes the game easy peasy
