List of Contents
The only way to get more Purple Pikmin in the main story of Pikmin 4 is by converting other Pikmin through Purple Candypop Buds, which are found in caves in later areas. Each Candypop Bud can only produce up to 5 seeds, so don't let your Purple Pikmin perish!
The fastest way to get more Purple Pikmin would be to revisit the final sublevel of the Engulfed Castle after getting 100% for the cave since you can get up to 10 of them every time. Make sure you have enough Blue Pikmin!
List of All Cave Locations and Maps
You'll receive the Purple Onion after clearing the last stage in the Trial of the Sage Leaf. This is end-game content, as you'll need to have rescued Olimar and finished Olimar's Shipwreck Tale.
Obtaining the Purple Onion will allow you to produce Purple Pikmin from pellets and enemies. Transport these back to the base with Purple Pikmin to make more.
The earliest you can get the Purple Pikmin is the final sublevel of the Engulfed Castle cave in Serene Shores. You must throw some of your Blue Pikmin into the Purple Candypop Buds to get Purple Pikmin so you can beat Waterwraith.
You can return to this sublevel after getting 100% completion for the cave to make more Purple Pikmin.

One Purple Pikmin has the strength and weight of 10 regular Pikmin. So if an object needs twenty Pikmin to be carried, just throw two Purple Pikmin and you're good to go!
Don't confuse this with attack power though, as they are similar to Red Pikmin in terms of damage.
Purple Pikmin have gravitational powers that allow them to create a shockwave around the point of impact. Enemies hit by the shockwave will flinch, which can be helpful when fighting enemies.
Although Purple Pikmin can carry heavy objects even in small numbers, they move the slowest among the nine types. Always consider efficiency and only assign them to gathering tasks if you're not in a rush.
Due to their weight, Purple Pikmin will not be blown away or inhaled by strong gusts of wind. They can't be caught inside bubbles too!

Dalmo | It's a profoundly heavy feeling, holding a living thing in your arms. It can be overwhelming to realize this thing is really alive! That said, these little ones have a density to them that makes them extra heavy. To hold them at all is difficult. But don't worry. They're strong enough that they can hold you! |

Slightly larger in size, Purple Pikmin can weigh up to 10 times as much as other Pikmin species, and when thrown to the ground, their impact creates gravitational waves that can actually warp space-time! It's astonishing. The density of their muscle fibers is also much higher than that of other Pikmin, allowing them to transport 10 times as much weight as their average-sized counterparts. Their rich purple color is derived from strong polyphenol antioxidants. Like White Pikmin, they are born from underground Candypop Buds, and no related Onions have been discovered so far. But I think somewhere underground, deep among the relics of the past, a Purple Onion is waiting to be discovered. |
Louie | Very heavy. Tenderizing the meat would be way too difficult. |
