Red Pikmin, in Pikmin 4, are unlocked in the Rescue Command Post. Read on to learn how to unlock Red Pikmin, how to get more of it, its abilities, as well as its Piklopedia Entry in this guide!
The very first Pikmin type you will encounter in Pikmin 4 are the Red Pikmin! In the Rescue Command Post, have Oatchi dig up the Red Onion on the west side of the map and take it to the S.S. Beagle to make it produce Red Pikmin.
Once you have the Red Onion, you can increase your Red Pikmin population with pellets or fallen enemies. Have your Red Pikmin carry these back to the onion to create more of them!
Wild Red Pikmin can also be found in caves. Pluck them or beat enemies they're fighting to add them to your squad.
Red Pikmin are completely immune to fire! Send them in against enemies that use fire-based attacks like Fiery Blowhogs or when clearing paths blocked by sizzling floors!
Red Pikmin are great for combat since they have the second highest attack power, losing only to thrown Rock Pikmin. Always bring a squad of Red Pikmin when you're up against monsters!

Pikmin are part of the Ambuloradicis class, which consists of creatures that exhibit both plant and animal characteristics. A Pikmin will instinctively follow whoever plucks it from the ground, so it is quite common for them to form symbiotic relationships with another species, as it serves the goal of propagating their own species as a whole. The Red Pikmin is the most common Pikmin species. It can be identified by the nose-like protuberance on its head and its highly aggressive behavior. It also has a few surprising and unique qualitiesーfor example, its immunity to extreme heat and fire, despite the fact that it's a living organism. This can be explained by looking closely at its skin and muscle fibers, which are made up of a flame-resistant cellulose. |
