Ride Oatchi in Pikmin 4 by pressing Y while near him. Our guide will show you how to ride Oatchi, how to unlock riding, and what you can do while riding!

You can ride on Oatchi by pressing the Y button while beside him. Press the Y button again while on Oatchi to get off him. Nearby Pikmin will automatically ride on Oatchi and can be dismounted by disbanding them.
While you're switched to Oatchi, you can use the B button to whistle at your character to make them ride. This will make any nearby Pikmin ride on Oatchi too.
Oatchi Controls and How to Use Him
After rescuing Russ from your first cave, Oatchi will grow larger the next day. From this point on, you'll be able to ride on Oatchi anytime he's nearby. This should be around Day 3 for most players.

You can ride Oatchi to jump over ledges so your character can reach higher areas that would otherwise be impossible to get to.
| How to Use | Hold X, then release. Use the arrow on the ground as a guide to where you want Oatchi to rush. |

You can still Rush with Oatchi while riding on him. If there are any Pikmin on Oatchi, they will immediately cling to enemies on impact.

Once Oatchi learns how to swim, you can have him carry you and your Pikmin across the water. This will make sure they won't drown when traveling through bodies of water.

Oatchi can continue doing his usual actions, such as chomping enemies and carrying objects around while your character is riding. There's little reason to do this, as the Dandori way would be having your character do other tasks.
