Cure Oatchi is a post-game Main Mission in Pikmin 4 given by Shepherd. Read on for a detailed walkthrough of Cure Oatchi, where to find Nelle and the Giant Dog, as well as other tips and strategies on how to complete this Main Mission!
List of Contents
Cure Oatchi is automatically unlocked after completing Rescue Olimar and finishing the main story. This post-game main mission is the start of your follow-up journey for the game's true ending!
# | Cure Oatchi Objectives |
---|---|
1 | Obtain 11,000 Sparklium |
2 | Rescue the Koppaites |
3 | Obtain 13,000 Sparklium |
4 | Rescue Nelle |
5 | Find the Giant Dog |
Before you can move on, you need to accumulate at least 11,000 units of Sparklium from the four main areas to unlock a fifth one, Giant's Hearth. Try aiming for a 100% exploration on each area if you need more Sparklium!
You now have to find and rescue Nelle, a veterinarian castaway, who might know something about this strange condition and how to cure Oatchi.
Unfortunately, you won't find her in Giant's Hearth. Instead, you'll find her two colleagues, Don Bergman and Yorke. Rescue them and you might find a lead on Nelle's whereabouts!
Regardless of which Giant's Hearth cave you clear first, Don Bergman will be the first cave castaway that you will find, so he can either be at Dream Home, Ultimate Testing Range, or Cradle of the Beast.
Yorke, on the other hand, is found on the east edge of the map, near the third base. You'll have to win him from Louie and Moss in a Dandori Battle.

After rescuing Yorke, he will try to make a few tweaks on the S.S. Shepherd's radar to extend its range, but will need a few more Sparklium for it to actually reach its new limit.
Collect a total of 13,000 units of Sparklium and return to base to discover the final area, Primordial Thicket.
You will immediately spot Nelle being carried by Moss as you arrive at the Primordial Thicket. At this point, you can have Oatchi track Moss' scent to find Nelle.
The trail will lead you to the northeast corner of the map, where you will have to defeat Louie and Moss in the Final Battle. This is a Dandori level 5 battle so be prepared!
Emerge victorious in the Dandori Battle and Louie will let go of Nelle, allowing you to take her to the S.S. Beagle and back to the Rescue Command Post.
Now we'll find out what we can do to cure Oatchi and return his tail to normal.
According to Nelle, you need cells from a dog that hasn't sprouted a leaf yet. Maybe that "giant dog" who kidnapped her and what Louie is looking for?
You might have already found the strange rock across a muddy puddle on your way to the Final Battle earlier. You will now find a hidden cave here on its place (also marked on your map), which is where the giant dog is. The cave is found on the northeast corner of the map.

This special cave contains a boss gauntlet that spans 20 sublevels, with the lowest being the giant dog's lair. There will be a candypop bud for each Pikmin type as well as Honeywisps carrying Ultra-Spicy nectar to prepare you for the game's final boss.
Defeat the Ancient Sirehound and cure Oatchi back at the base to complete the mission!

The Rescue Corps, Olimar, and the other castaways they've rescued, will finally be able to leave the planet after curing Oatchi! The game's true ending will be played as soon as you return to base with the giant dog's collar.
