How to Reach The Mud Pit

Northwest of the Base

From the base, head northwest and enter a passage on your right and keep moving forward until you see the Mud Pit's cave entrance.

The Mud Pit Bosses and Enemies

Bug-Eyed Crawmad

The entire boss arena is a swamp with a shallow ground which slows down your Pikmin's movement speed. It is recommended to ride Oatchi and wait for the boss to approach you and throw the Pikmin after they attack. Two Hermit Crawmads will accompany Bug-Eyed Crawmad in the boss fight and it is recommended to defeat them first due to their high movement speed.

Use Oatchi's Rush ability and attack their backside to deal damage. Bug-Eyed Crawmad's main weak points are its eyeball, so target either of the two eyeballs and throw Pikmin at it. Make sure to throw the Pikmin diagonally as the boss can charge in front of you to attack.

Once you take out both of its eyeballs, the boss will fall on its back. Use this opportunity to deploy all your Pikmin to charge at it to deplete its health entirely.

3. and 4. Use Winged Pikmin to Pick Up the Treasures

There are some treasures in this cave that you cannot pick up unless you have some Winged Pikmin with you. These include the Sweat-Soaked Blue Bird and the Skin of the Phoenix which are submerged in a swampy area.

If you do not have enough Winged Pikmin to transport the treasures, you can use the Winged Candypop Buds to convert your other Pikmin types into that.

The entire Mud Pit is covered in swamp which will drown Pikmin types other than the Winged Pikmin. Use as many Winged Pikmin as possible to explore the cave and defeat enemies.

Ice Pikmin are also required as there are some Hydro Jellies that you need to destroy to obtain the treasure inside.

If you have extra slots left, you can fill the remaining ones with Red Pikmin to covert them into Winged Pikmin using the candypop buds in the cave.

Defeat Enemies in the Swamp Using Winged Pikmin

There are enemies that move at high speed in the swamps and can eat your Pikmin if you step foot on the swamp.

To defeat these enemies, use Winged Pikmin as they bypass the swamp and attack them from the air.
