Purple Pikmin will be your primary way of beating the Giant Breadbugs since they can outcarry them easily. They're also the only type of Pikmin capable of damaging them directly. There are Purple Candypop Buds scattered around the sublevel to help you create Purple Pikmin from your existing Pikmin.

Yellow Pikmin can fill the rest of your squad since it's recommended for the cave. They're also helpful for digging out items that the Giant Breadbug might bury and charging to add extra power in the tug-of-war.

Lure It With Items

Giant Breadbugs will try to steal anything your Pikmin can carry. This includes the castaway, treasures, and defeated creatures. They will immediately shift their attention to items being transported, so prepare for a tug-of-war.

Beat It In Tug-of-War

Giant Breadbugs can carry objects with the power of 30 Pikmin. You only need to beat this with at least 4 Purple Pikmin or charge with all your Pikmin to start dragging it back to the base. Once your Pikmin reach the base, it should hit the ship and take lots of damage!

Damage With Purple Pikmin

Purple Pikmin can't hurt the Giant Breadbug if you just throw them normally. Instead, you'll need to match its carrying power and then throw it while it's struggling. It's still best to defeat it in tug-of-war if you have enough Pikmin.

This lumbering muffin might just take offense if you mistake it for a loaf of fresh bread!
OlimarOlimar's Log This gargantuan species of the greater Breadbug family has a torso so perfectly square that it almost seems like it was formed in a mold.
For a brief period after birth, the Giant Breadbug competes for food with smaller Breadbugs, but upon reaching maturity, it seeks out much larger prey. This is the primary reason two species with similar feeding habits can coexist in the same habitat.
Hordes of Pikmin appear to pose the only plausible threat to this massive creature's life.
