Bug-Eyed Crawmad is a returning boss in Pikmin 4 found in different areas, including Giant's Hearth. Learn Bug-Eyed Crawmad's locations, the recommended Pikmin to use against it, how to beat it, as well as its weight and Sparklium value in this guide.
Recommended Pikmin | Blue Pikmin | Ice Pikmin |
---|
Bug-Eyed Crawmad can usually be found in the water, so having an army of Blue Pikmin is a requirement for this fight. You can also launch Ice Pikmin on its eyes to freeze it, further extending your time to attack.
Should you find Bug-Eyed Crawmad in a place where there is no water, you can safely substitute Blue Pikmin with Red Pikmin.
Steps to Beat Bug-Eyed Crawmad |
---|
|
Take down Bug-Eyed Crawmad by targetting its eyes. Launch Pikmin at them; we recommend Ice Pikmin to freeze it, giving you ample room to deal damage. Destroying both eyes will make Bug-Eyed Crawmad flip on its back.
You would usually equip Blue Pikmin when you find this boss on areas with water. However, for some areas on Giant's Hearth where this boss can be found, you can use Red Pikmin to deal more damage.
When it flips on its back, Bug-Eyed Crawmad's belly will be exposed. Launch your Pikmin on this area. When it gets up, repeat from step 1 until this boss is defeated.
Bug-Eyed Crawmad will rear its whole body to lunge at you and your Pikmin. Just run sideways to dodge this move.

Dalmo's Log | Its peepers aren't just big-they're capable of seeing things our eyes can't. This bug-eyed darling could identify all sorts of unknown objects for us if we showed it what to look at. How useful could that be?! | ||
Olimar's Log |
Like its cousin the Hermit Crawmad, it makes its home in a burrow rather than a shell. It has abnormally overdeveloped eyes with which to detect prey in cloudy water or low-visibility mud. These enormous eyes can perceive circular polarized light, as well as the ultraviolet and infrared spectrum. It is well protected from predators, allowing it to live for upward of 50 years and grow to immense size by repeated ecdysis. |

Louie's Log | When grilled, serves as an excellent filling for an offbeat po'boy. If you have any left over, add it to a liver paste to deepen the flavor. |
