How to Get Gear

Purchase at the Lab

Pikmin 4 - Russ and The Lab

Gear can be purchased with raw materials from Russ at the Lab after you rescue him in the first cave you'll visit in the Sun-Speckled Terrace.

You can unlock gear by either taking a certain type of damage or reaching a set amount of Sparklium.

Earn as Side Mission Rewards

Pikmin 4 - Gear Side Mission Rewards

A few side missions reward gear for completing them. These include the Extra Hand and Lineup Trumpet, both of which can't be bought at the Lab.

How to Equip Gear

Access Through Tablet Menu

Pikmin 4 - How to Equip Gear

Any gear you obtain is automatically equipped. These can be equipped or unequipped at any time by pressing the Tablet Menu and going to Gear and Skills.

Hold Y then Select Pack

Pikmin 4 - How to Use Gear

Some gear like the Idler's Alert, Homesick Signal, and Survey Drone have to be used like items by opening the pack by holding Y. Frequently used gear can be assigned to a shortcut for easy activation.
