List of Contents
Skill | Rating | Explanation |
---|---|---|
Buff Super Buff |
★★★★★ | Raising Buff to Lv.3 gives him the strength of 10 Pikmin. This makes it possible to get the Blue Onion early. Maxing out Super Buff lets him carry up to 100 weight and unlocks Swallow in the postgame. |
Doggy-Paddle | ★★★★☆ | It's best to have Oatchi learn how to swim as soon as possible. Upgrading this skill also lets Oatchi transport and attack while in the water, making him as effective as Blue Pikmin. |
Command | ★★★★☆ | Higher levels of Command improve multitasking by allowing you to send Oatchi anywhere on the map and to round up any stray Pikmin. |
Rush Mega Rush |
★★★★☆ | Leveling Rush decreases the charge time and can stun enemies once you unlock Mega Rush. Learning all of Oatchi's skills unlocks the legendary skill, Infinite Rush. |
Pluck | ★★★☆☆ | Pluck makes Oatchi more like a second captain, allowing him to get Pikmin off the ground too. |
Dig | ★★★☆☆ | Later in the game, Oatchi can dig faster than Yellow Pikmin if this skill is improved. |
Chomp Big Chomp |
★★☆☆☆ | Big Chomp improves on its base skill by allowing Oatchi to deal more damage and attack creatures in the air. |
Heal | ★☆☆☆☆ | Heal allows Oatchi to recover HP passively, but the Scrummy Bone is still more effective. |
All Oatchi Skills and Upgrades
Oatchi is the Rescue Corps' very own Rescue Pup. He'll be your loyal companion as you do your missions.
Rescue the Rescue Corps Main Mission Guide
You can get Oatchi as soon as your character finds him at the very start of their search operation. He'll stick around as your loyal Rescue Pup during your explorations!
Oatchi will eventually grow bigger after you rescue Russ. From this point on, you'll be able to do more with Oatchi, such as riding him, having him jump, and training him.
What Can Oatchi Do? |
---|
|
How to Use | Hover over an object and press A. |
---|
Oatchi can do almost anything your Pikmin can do! He can carry objects with the strength of up to 100 Pikmin and dig faster than Yellow Pikmin. He can also attack any enemies by chomping at them, even reaching aerial creatures with Big Chomp.
How to Use | Press Y when near Oatchi to ride him, and press Y again to dismount. |
---|
Once Oatchi grows larger within the first couple of days of the game, you can start riding him! Any Pikmin you have tagged along can also ride with you.
How to Use | Press X while mounted or when playing as Oatchi. |
---|
Oatchi will also gain the ability to make jumps over ledges once he gets bigger. Use this to reach places that can't be accessed otherwise.
How to Use | Hold X as Oatchi or when riding him, then release. Use the arrow on the ground as a guide to where you want Oatchi to rush. |
---|
Oatchi can also rush to break down obstacles, attack enemies, and make objects fall if they're out of reach. This can be upgraded to Mega Rush, making him charge faster while allowing him to stun enemies!
Once Oatchi learns all his other skills, he can be taught the legendary skill, Infinite Rush!
How to Unlock | Bring Oatchi to water, then let 2 in-game days pass. |
---|
Oatchi begins with a fear of water, and attempting to let him swim early on will cause him to nearly drown. After two in-game days, he'll overcome this fear and learn how to swim!
Once Oatchi can doggy-paddle, any Pikmin riding with you will not drown, so it's a safe way to cross bodies of water. You can even teach him to dive and transport objects in the water!
How to Use | Hold Y and select "Pack". Then, select the Scrummy Bone and throw it towards Oatchi. |
---|
Sometimes, Oatchi will take damage when fighting against creatures. Heal him up with a Scrummy Bone to keep him healthy! It can even increase his maximum HP temporarily when feeding him one at full health.
With enough Pup Drive, Oatchi can be taught tricks and new skills such as self-healing, the ability to direct him anywhere, and a way to gather Pikmin. Take advantage of these commands to clear maps more efficiently!
How to Use | Hold Y and select "Command". From here, you can choose a target to sniff out. |
---|
Oatchi has the special ability to sniff around for many things. You can command him to look for treasure, Pikmin, onions, and even track down Castaways!
Command Effect and How to Unlock
How to Use | Hold Y and select "Switch" while not riding on Oatchi. |
---|
Oatchi can be controlled on his own by selecting Switch. He can whistle at Pikmin to group them and throw them just like the player would. This allows him to act like a second captain and split up to cover more ground!
Your character isn't the only one who can use gear. Oatchi can equip different kinds of Pup Gear that can give him immunities and improved survivability. Make sure to get enough raw materials to buy them at the Lab.
Shepherd, the Rescue Corps captain, can train Oatchi to improve his skills or learn new ones using Pup Drive earned by rescuing Castaways and curing Leaflings.
Shepherd can be found at the Rescue Command Post before starting a mission for the day, and she'll be able to train Oatchi once he grows bigger.
