Puffstool is a returning boss in Pikmin 4 found in Primordial Thicket. Learn Puffstool's locations, the recommended Pikmin to use against it, how to beat it, as well as its weight and Sparklium value in this guide.
Recommended Pikmin | Red Pikmin | White Pikmin | Ice Pikmin |
---|---|---|
Ice Pikmin will make this fight easier; having lots in your team will freeze Puffstool quickly, giving you more time to attack. Have White Pikmin destroy the sticky molds and Moldy Slooch surrounding the area to rid yourself of any distractions.
For the third type of Pikmin, we recommend bringing along Red Pikmin for damage, but any type of Pikmin will do just fine!
Steps to Beat Puffstool |
---|
|
It's best to clear the area from the sticky mold and Moldy Slooches before engaging Puffstool. This will make the fight easier, with you only having to focus on this boss.
Use Oatchi's Rush to launch all of your Pikmin at Puffstool. With enough Pikmin, it will turn over, giving you a decent amount of time to get damage in.
To extend the time to attack, equip at least 20 Ice Pikmin to freeze Puffstool. This will let you deal significant damage before it gets up.
After getting up, Puffstool will spray a purple substance that will confuse the Pikmin, similiar to what Groovy Long Legs has. Stay away from it when this happens, build up your Rush, and wait until the spray is gone before charging at it.

Dalmo's Log | Come, let us ponder the Puffstool. This devious li'l bean releases spores that have a hallucinogenic effect on Pikmin. At the first inhale, affection sprouts, and they are drawn in closer. Then they breathe in more and more of the confusion-inducing spores. Soon they think of nothing but the Puffstool as they jump around... Boing, boing...bo... | ||
Olimar's Log |
A type of Ambulofungus, the current working theory is that the Puffstool evolved from a more common species of fungus that gained animal-like characteristics over time, including the ability to walk. When it senses danger, it will scatter spores from under its cap, releasing a hallucinogen that confuses its attackers. The hallucinogenic compound in the spores is only effective against this species's natural enemies, the Pikmin, causing them to mistake it for their leader. Pikmin who fall into this trap are then used as workers to maintain nutrition or defenses for the Puffstool. |

Louie's Log | Flip upside down, and cook cap over a charcoal grill, low and slow. Once it starts to sweat, it's ready to eat. |
Puffstool can only be found in one location in the game.
