How to Get Olimar | Rescue Olimar Main Mission | Olimar's Shipwreck Tale |
The long journey to Rescue Olimar begins after restarting the S.S. Shepherd's engines. You'll need to gather 300 Sparklium within the Rescue Command Post to do this.
# | Rescue Olimar Objectives |
---|---|
1 | Unlock Hero's Hideaway |
2 | Solve the bunker code |
3 | Defeat Olimar |
4 | Cure Olimar |
To find Olimar, you must first explore the first areas while progressing the main missions Rescue the Rescue Corps and Secure Energy Source. Completing both main missions will unlock the fourth area, Hero's Hideaway.
Cozy place looks awfully familiar, right? Captain Olimar must really be around here somewhere!
Upon landing at Hero's Hideaway, the next step is to open the bunker on the east side of the map, but it is locked by a 3-digit code that is different on each playthrough. Unless you want to do some guesswork, you have to find the clues hidden around this room!
The clues in question are on the playing card treasures. These cards are faced down, so you won't be able to take a peek for the numbers until their taken to the S.S. Beagle. Don't worry, the numbers will be displayed on the right side of your screen once you examine the bunker.
The first card for the bunker code is located directly north of the first base. The card is pinned on the board with a dart, so you'll have to use Oatchi's Rush to remove both treasures.
The next card is a few steps north of the second base, but will need a detour to reach. Ride the moving yellow platform near the east fan (the one that boosts you to the bunker) and slide through the metal wire to reach the card.
The third and final card is on the northern end of the map that will require much more effort to reach. We recommend moving your base to the third site before getting it.
How to Get the Third Card | |
---|---|
1 | Find the box southwest of the third base and move it to find a tunnel. Sadly, Oatchi won't fit here so you gotta leave him behind. |
2 | Slide through the metal wire to reach the top of the table next to the base. You'll find a yellow and grey switch that's connected to the fan below. Throw a Pikmin on the yellow switch to turn it on. |
3 | Switch to Oatchi and have him fly through the gust of the yellow fan. Make sure Oatchi has a Pikmin or two before moving to the next step. |
4 | Switch back to the explorer and jump in front of the fan on the northern edge of the table to reach the chair on the other side. |
5 | The second fan is off, so switch back to Oatchi and let him throw a Pikmin on the red switch (near the first fan) to turn it on. Switch back to the explorer and boost yourself again to reach the card. |
Now that you have the numbers to the code, head to the bunker on the east side of the map. Throw Pikmin on the locks to rotate them until they show the correct numbers.
Olimar(?) challenges you to a battle! Follow the red leafling into the cave and defeat it in a Dandori Battle. Like the rest of the leaflings, he will pass out in awe after seeing how good you are in the art of Dandori (would be funny if you could say "Dandori issue").
Now, to find out if the leafling is really our Olimar! Head out for a Night Expedition to get some glow sap and give the cure to the leafling to complete the quest!
The adventure in PNF-404 continues after rescuing Olimar! New areas where you can find the rest of the castaways, a new main mission where you cure Oatchi, and other post-game content will be unlocked once you complete the main story.
After rescuing and curing Olimar, you can find him next to his spaceship back at the Research Command Post. Talk to him and he will teach Oatchi the Swallow skill that allows our rescue pup to store an object in his belly to transport it much easier.
