Head North of the Starting Base

Travel through the water area, passing the bridge and finding a path towards the Engulfed Castle's cave entrance.

Pikmin 4 - WaterwraithWaterwraith

Throw Purple Pikmin on its back to attack the Waterwraith and reduce its HP. Once the boss swipes away your Pikmin, use the whistle immediately to call them back and to avoid getting run over by the boss' rollers.

It is recommended to use the Candypop Bud in front of the boss room to get Purple Pikmin. This Pikmin type has the strength of 10 regular Pikmin and is vital for defeating the Waterwraith.

Since the entrance of the cave is underwater, you can only bring Blue Pikmin with you. Note that the cave contains obstacles such as fire, electricity, poison, which may harm your Blue Pikmin if you are not careful.

Waterwraith Explanation/Puzzle Solution
・Appears in the cave after 5 minutes.
・Pikmin will instantly die if they get run over by its rollers.
・Cannot be attacked unless you have Purple Pikmin.
・Can only be defeated in a boss fight once you reach the 5th sublevel.

A transparent enemy that uses a steamroller-like vehicle called Waterwraith will appear on the sublevels along the way. This enemy cannot be attacked until you fight it as a boss on the 5th sublevel.

If the enemy appears on the sublevel, it is recommend to find the door that leads to the next sublevel to flee from it.

Stops Appearing After You Clear the Cave

Once you complete the cave, the Waterwraith will no longer appear in any of the sublevels. If you find it difficult to explore the cave with it, you can ignore the treasures and focus on clearing the cave first.

Watch Out for Obstacles

Aside from the Waterwraith, there are other obstacles to watch out for when exploring the Engulfed Castle. See the table below for the list of obstacles and their puzzle solution.

Red Spider		 ・Appears whenever you transport treasure.
➤ Transport the treasure when there are no enemies nearby.
Pikmin 4 - Sticky Moss
Sticky Moss		 ・ Running speed decreases when walking on the sticky mold.
➤ Destroy the sticky mold before the Waterwraith appears.
Pikmin 4 - Poisonous Mushroom
Poisonous Mushroom		 ・Poison appears when you attack the mushroom
➤ Destroy with a Bomb Rock

Focus on Clearing the Cave

If you find it difficult to explore the cave, you can ignore the treasures and focus on clearing it as soon as possible.

Once you clear the cave, the Waterwraith will no longer appear and you can use other Pikmin types to explore and gather the treasures.
