Researching Onions, in Pikmin 4, is a line of Side Missions where you need to collect 8 Flarlic Bulbs. Read on to see an overview of the Researching Onions mission, its rewards, how to unlock it, and how to complete it!

Researching Onions is unlocked after rescuing Sy and interacting with him at the Rescue Command Post. He will be the 11th castaway you'll find and rescue from caves.
The side mission Researching Onions will reward you with a total of 120 Raw Materials upon completion.
To complete the Researching Onions side mission, you'll need to find and collect 8 Flarlic Bulbs in the game. Flarlic Bulbs are used to increase max Pikmin Limit by 10 once it's absorbed by the Onion.
There are a total of 12 Flarlic Bulbs in the game, with each area having one flarlic on the surface and one flarlic in a cave. Once you collect 8 flarlic, however, you will hit the max PIkmin limit of 100. Any additional flarlic won't increase your capacity beyond 100, but you will get additional nectar.
