Train Oatchi in Pikmin 4 by talking to Shepherd at the Rescue Command Post and using Pup Drive. Our guide will help you learn how to train Oatchi and how to unlock training.

Train Oatchi with Shepherd
Shepherd is the Rescue Corps captain, and she's responsible for helping you train Oatchi! She can be found beside the ship at the Rescue Command Post or your main base.
Speak with her before exploration to begin training and then choose the skills you want to learn or improve.
All Oatchi Skills and Upgrades
Use Pup Drive to Train Oatchi
To learn or improve skills, Oatchi needs to use up Pup Drive. Each skill has a Pup Drive cost, and there's no way to refund them once Oatchi is trained. Some skills like Buff and Rush have even stronger versions once they're fully upgraded and cost more Pup Drive to learn.

Rescue Russ From a Cave
You can start training Oatchi once he grows bigger after rescuing Russ. This also lets Oatchi learn how to jump to higher platforms, and sniff out items and castaways by giving him a command!
