Overall, Robotics is a useless perk unless you plan to hack into robots and command them to fight alongside you. Although this has niche uses, a companion is still a better option for an ally, plus most robots can easily be destroyed and are permanently gone once they've been disabled.

How to Get Robotics Expert

Unlock Robotics Expert at Intelligence 8

Robotics Expert is on Intelligence Level 8

The Robotics Expert perk is unlocked when your Intelligence is at Level 8. You can start at this level by assigning 8 points to Intelligence during the Registration Form at the start of the game. Otherwise, you can get to this level by collecting SPECIAL magazines or bobbleheads and spending perk points upon level up.

After getting to Intelligence 8, you're free to spend perk points on ranking up the skill, as long as you are at the required character level to rank up.
