Shadow of Steel Objectives

  2. Board the Vertibird

Follow Paladin Danse to the Rooftop

Fallout 4 - Follow Paladin Danse

As you progress through Semper Invicta, you can start Shadow of Steel by talking to Paladin Danse. After telling him you're ready, simply follow him to the rooftop to progress.

Board the Vertibird

Fallout 4 - Board the Vertibird

Board the Vertibird and fly to the Prydwen with Paladin Danse. He'll be piloting the aircraft as you man the built-in machine gun in case of any hostilities.

Speak to Captain Kells

Fallout 4 - Speak to Captain Kells

Upon reaching the Prydwen, exit the Vertibird and speak to Captain Kells after Paladin Danse introduces you to him. Do not follow Paladin Danse afterward, as you need to introduce yourself personally to Captain Kells. Only head inside the command room after you speak to Captain Kells personally.

Attend Elder Maxson's Address

Fallout 4 - Elder Maxson Address

After that, head to the command room by entering the door to the right. You'll see the debriefing area just across the entrance and simply walk to it to attend the debriefing. From here, you just have to wait for Elder Maxson to finish before you speak to him personally.

After the address, speak to Elder Maxson and introduce yourself personally. He will officially welcome you and immediately assign you the rank of Knight, as commended by Paladin Danse.

Talk to Paladin Danse

Fallout 4 - Paladin Danse

Finally, climb the ladder to the main deck and follow the long hallway to the cafeteria. Paladin Danse will be there and simply speak to him to complete the quest. He'll also officially join you now as a companion!
