The Freedom Trail is a trail you can follow starting at the Boston Common that has markers with codes written on them. The trail will lead you to the Railroad HQ and a chance to join the Railroad faction in Fallout 4 (FO4).

The Seal Symbols Spell Out RAILROAD
The Freedom Trail Code is RAILROAD.
To get this code solution yourself, take note of the letter and number on the seal symbols you find while following the Freedom Trail. Arrange the letters according to their number and you'll be able to spell out the code.

Start the Road to Freedom Quest
You can pick up the start of the Freedom Trail by starting the Road to Freedom quest which can be done multiple ways. The simplest one would be to head to the Diamond City Market and eavesdrop on some residents talking about the Railroad faction. The quest will ask you to follow the Freedom Trail.
Follow the Freedom Trail
The quest will lead you to a fountain in Boston Common with a Freedom Trail Marker on the ground. From here, you will have to follow the red brick path along the pavement to find all other other markers. This will lead you to different tourist spots around the city.

Go Inside the Old North Church Through the Door at the End of the Trail
At the end of the trail at Old North Church, you'll find a white door just in front of the marker. Enter through the marker and go through the corridors to find the Freedom Trail Ring.

| 1 | At the end of the Freedom Trail, go inside the white door just in front of the final marker. |
| 2 | Go through the hole in the wall and head to a doorway on the right that leads downstairs. Ghouls will spawn so deal with them first. |
| 3 | Follow the corridor at the bottom of the stairway and keep going until you reach a dead end where the Freedom Trail Ring is. |
Enter Code on the Freedom Trail Ring
Enter the deciphered code RAILROAD
by spelling it out on the ring. Spin the ring until the letter reaches the arrow at the top and hit the button at the center of the ring to enter the letter. Spell out the code and the wall to the left will slide open. The path leads to the Railroad HQ.

Unlocks the Railroad Faction HQ
Entering the code on the Freedom Trail Ring allows you to access the Railroad HQ which is where the Railroad Faction resides. Entering the HQ will lead to a series of quests that will give you a choice to join the faction.
