Diamond City Blues Walkthrough

1. Visit the Colonial Taphouse
2. Talk to Paul
3. Return to Colonial Taphouse
4. Follow the Quest Marker
5. Kill the Drug Dealers

8. Go to the Chem Lab

Visit the Colonial Taphouse

Head inside the Colonial Taphouse and witness a bar fight between Paul Pembroke and Henry Cooke. Paul will be defeated in this fight. Wait for him to get out and talk to him outside.

It is crucial not to get involved and stay as far away as possible to avoid any of them being hostile towards you.

Have Your Companions Stay Outside

If you have brought a companion with you, it is better to leave them outside. Ask them to stay outside and go to the bar alone to avoid any accidental hostility.

Talk to Paul

Leave the bar and find Paul. Paul will be standing in front of the Commonwealth Weaponry store. Talk to him to start the quest.

Ask for Rewards and Do It Alone

If you have high enough Charisma, you can choose the option to ask for rewards. You can get 80 caps when you successfully persuade Paul to provide rewards.

Also, you can ask to do the quest alone, the results will be the same nonetheless, but an extra hand in battle won't hurt.

Return to Colonial Taphouse

Following the conversation with Paul, return to the Colonial Taphouse and confront Cooke, either solo or accompanied by Paul. A brief cutscene will follow, offering you the choice to have Paul spare or kill Cooke.

Alternatively, if you go alone, you'll have the decision to make yourself. Opting to kill Cooke won't impact the quest progression, as the next part can still be obtained from a note on his body if he's killed.

Follow the Quest Marker

After the event, open your Pip-boy and track the quest. Go outside and follow the quest marker up north for your next destination.

On the other hand, if you have Cooke alive at the end, he will serve as your guide to the destination, follow him.

Kill the Drug Dealers

Your destination will be a place where the drug dealers gather. Go to the meeting place but do not engage yet as they are treated non-hostile.

Talk to them first and then when they get hostile, open fire!

Deal With Trish

Once all the goons, including Nelson, are eliminated and Trish remains the last one standing, she will surrender. Engage in conversation with her, and she will divulge information about Marowski's chem lab in exchange for sparing her life.

Split the Goods With Paul

If you have Paul accompanying you in this quest, you will have to split the rewards with him. You can bypass this and turn the 50-50 into 100-0 if you have a high enough Charisma for a difficult persuasion check.

Alternatively, you can kill Paul here to get all the goods on your own.

Head to Four Leaf Fishpacking Plant

The chem lab is located at the Four Leaf Fishpacking Plant, east of D.B. Technical High School. Fast travel to the nearest landmark to get to the location easier.

Use the V.A.N.S Perk to Guide the Way

If you have the quest tracked, the V.A.N.S. Perk is especially useful.

This perk allows you to see the next objective when you enter VATS mode, which is particularly helpful since the Fishpacking Plant is miles away from your current destination.

V.A.N.S. Perk - Is It Worth It?

Go to the Chem Lab

To enter the chem lab, head to the rooftop of the Fishpacking Plant and find a terminal. This will automatically input Trish's password that you got when you interrogated her.

Once the password is entered, a secret door will reveal itself. Enter and finish the quest.
