Old Guns Objectives

Talk to Ronnie Shaw

After building a settlement in The Castle, Ronnie Shaw will eventually join the settlement after a day or two. Talk to her to start the quest.

Follow Ronnie to the Blocked Tunnel

After accepting the quest, simply follow Ronnie as she shows you the main entrance to the armory and the alternative way to access it via the tunnel. Since the main entrance is shut tight, the only possible way to reach the armory is through the tunnel.

Use the Workshop to Clear the Rubbles

To clear out the blocked path, simply access the Workshop to gain the ability to scrap items. Then, head back to the tunnel and scrap the rubble to open the tunnel.

Navigate the Tunnels

Once you're in the Castle Tunnels, take the path to the right and keep moving left towards the barrels. Then, turn right and just keep following the open paths to reach the locked door to the West Bastion.

Defeat Sarge

Upon reaching the next room, Sarge will be activated and will attack everyone on sight, including Ronnie. Defeat him so Ronnie can safely unlock the door for you.

A good strategy to apply here is to use the tunnels to your advantage. Since Sarge follows and charges at you on sight, you can place mines along the path and detonate them each time he passes.

Wait for Ronnie to Unlock the Door

After defeating Sarge, wait for Ronnie to unlock the door to the West Bastion. Once it's unlocked, follow her as she guides you toward the armory.

Upon reaching the armory, pick up the Artillery Schematics to unlock the Artillery Piece. Additionally, grab some Smoke Grenades from the yellow chest to the right, as they are needed to activate it.

Build an Artillery Piece and Assign a Minutemen

Next, build an Artillery Piece on top of the bastions near the entrance, preferably on the corners. It's recommended to place it here since the target building will be closer to the entrance, allowing you to reach it once activated. Otherwise, if placed at the rear end of the Castle, the quest won't progress.

After placing the Artillery Piece, assign a settler to the post. Once the objective is complete, speak to Ronnie again to locate the practice building for testing the new artillery.

Head to the Target Building

Once you have the Artillery Piece ready, Ronnie will direct you to an empty building just across the front entrance. Head there and tune into Radio Freedom to receive her signals.

Throw the Artillery Smoke Bombs

Throw the smoke grenade to the marker and wait for the missiles to hit it. This might take a while, but you can use the time to find a safe place to avoid the incoming explosions.

Talk to Preston Garvey

To complete the quest, speak to Preston Garvey again. He might not be in the Castle this time, so make sure to check the map to know his exact location, especially if you assigned him to manage other settlements.
