Meet Bobbi in the Alleyway

Meet Bobbi in an alleyway behind the gun store of Goodneighbor to accept her work offer and then talk to her inside the building to discuss the details of the job.

Join the Dig

Open the steel door in front of Bobbi to find a cave that leads to the Dig. Proceed down the cavern to link up with the other workers.

Exterminate the Mirelurks

Kill all three Mirelurks that will emerge out of the Dig. These types of enemies have a strong hard shell protecting their back, so try aiming at the soft spot on their upper bodies to damage them effectively.

Afterward, speak to Bobbi who will immediately appear after defeating the Mirelurks.

Meet Bobbi in Diamond City

Go to Diamond City and talk to Bobbi at the restaurant in the middle of the Market. Keep asking her questions to reveal information about the next plan of action.

Get Mel Out of Jail

Enter the Security Office of Diamond City and talk to Mel in one of the cells. You can bribe the guard 300 caps, steal the Jail Key at the office, or convince the guard (Charisma Check) to let Mel out of jail.

Recruit Mel

Follow Mel out of the Security Office and tell him about Bobbi's plan. He will then go to the Dig after he agrees to join.

Dig to the Strongroom

Join Bobbi and Mel at the Dig and use the Eyebot to blast through fragile walls in the tunnels until you reach the strongroom. You will encounter a lot of Mirelurks, a Mirelurk King, and Feral Ghouls, so we highly recommend you bring lots of ammo and Chems.

Meet the Gang in the Strongroom Basement

Regroup with Bobbi and Mel at the Strongroom's basement and prepare to run away as the Eyebot will self-destruct to create an opening on the ceiling.

Enter the Strongroom

Enter the Strongroom where you will meet Fahrenheit and her crew. From here, you will make a choice, either betray Bobbi or side with her.

Betray Bobbi (Option A)

Prepare to kill Bobbi as she will immediately become hostile if you choose to betray her. Once she's been dealt with, talk to Fahrenheit to end the quest and receive the Ashmaker unique minigun.

Additionally, Hancock will become available to be your companion.

Side with Bobbi (Option B)

You will have to kill Fahrenheit and her men if you side with Bobbi. Once killed, pick up the Hancock's Strongroom Key from Fahrenheit and unlock the train car. Speak to Bobbi afterward to end the quest. You can still get the Ashmaker by looting it from Fahrenheit's corpse.

If you choose this decision, Hancock will ask you to hunt Bobbi down after the quest before you can unlock him as a companion.

The Big Dig Best Outcome

Betray Bobbi to Easily Recruit Hancock

You can betray Bobbi to get the best outcome of the Big Dig quest, as you can immediately recruit Hancock as a companion if you kill her. Otherwise, if you side with Bobbi, you will have to do Hancock an additional favor of hunting Bobbi down after the quest before you can unlock him as a companion.
