The Devil’s Due Objectives

1. Listen to Private Hart's Holotape
2. Explore the Museum
3. Defeat the Deathclaw or Sneak Past It
4. Listen to Sergeant Lee's Holotape
5. Pick Up the Pristine Deathclaw Egg
6. Deliver the Egg to Wellingham (Option A)
7. Return the Egg to its Nest (Option B)

Listen to Private Hart's Holotape

Grab Private Hart's Holotape from his body just outside the Museum of Witchcraft and listen to it using your Pip-Boy.

Explore the Museum

Enter the Museum of Witchcraft through the basement doors near Private Hart's dead body and proceed through the ruined area with a few mannequins. There will be a few jumpscares as you go along, but you will not run into any hostiles yet.

Defeat the Deathclaw or Sneak Past It

As you reach the main entrance, you can choose to kill the Deathclaw wandering around the area or sneak past it by crawling through the hole in the wall until you reach the bathroom.

Listen to Sergeant Lee's Holotape

Pick up Sergeant Lee's Holotape on the bathroom floor next to his body and listen to it.

Pick Up the Pristine Deathclaw Egg

Grab the Pristine Deathclaw Egg next to Sergeant Lee's body and exit the museum through the main entrance behind you.

Deliver the Egg to Wellingham (Option A)

Travel back to Diamond City's Market area and deliver the egg to Wellingham to end the quest and receive Wellingham's Recipe and 200 Caps as rewards. You can also attempt to pass a Charisma check for an additional 100 Caps.

Return the Egg to its Nest (Option B)

Go to the Deathclaw's nest located Northwest of the Museum of Witchcraft and place the egg in the nest to end the quest. You can also grab the Deathclaw Gauntlet beside the nest as an additional reward.

Another thing worth noting is that a friendly Deathclaw will emerge out of nowhere as soon as you arrive at the nest. He will only become hostile if you walk away with the egg still in your inventory.

The Devil's Due Best Choice

Don't Return the Egg for Caps and a New Food Recipe

Delivering the Egg is the best choice to get extra Caps and a new food recipe. You can still get the Deathclaw Gauntlet even without returning the egg. To do this, go to the nest and grab the gauntlet, then immediately teleport to Diamond City before the friendly Deathclaw turns hostile.
