Public Knowledge Walkthrough

  1. Go to Boston Public Library
  2. Return the Overdue Book
  3. Clear the Library of Super Mutants
  4. Return to Daisy

Go to Boston Public Library

After talking to Daisy and starting the quest, she will give you an Overdue Book that needs to be returned to Boston Public Library.

You can go to the Boston Public Library through Copley Station.

Use the Intercom

Use the intercom and persuade the voice that you are an employee by attempting to guess your ID Number. Although this might need your Charisma to be at a certain level. If you have Grape Mentats, you can consume that beforehand, as it provides a temporary +5 increase in Charisma for 8 minutes.

If you attempt to lockpick the door to the Library, the robots inside will be hostile towards you.

Return the Overdue Book

Fallout 4 - Book Return Machine

After getting inside the Library, head upstairs and go to the wall on the right. There is a Book Return Machine here that you will use to return the Overdue Book.

Clear the Library of Super Mutants

Fallout 4 - Deal With the Mutants

The quest is not done just yet as you will have to deal with the Super Mutants now.

They won't appear instantly and you will need to roam around the library and wait for the intercom to announce that the Super Mutants are raiding the Library.

The Robots Will Help

Fallout 4 - Helping Robots

If you choose to persuade yourself in by guessing your ID Number, the robots will not be hostile towards you and help you out in dealing with the Super Mutants.

Return to Daisy

Fallout 4 - Return to Daisy

The intercom will announce when there is no more Super Mutants around. Once hearing this, get out of the library and fast travel back to Goodneighbor.

Talk to Daisy and finish the quest.
