Same effect as Magnifying Glass

If you wish to use Examine without locking your Main Job or Sub-Job to the Freelancer class, buying a lot of Magnifying glass is worth considering if you wish to fill out the Monster Lore Book.

Survey is an AOE examine ability

Survey immediately scans all enemies in one usage. It costs MP but its ability to save a lot of turns against boss fights is invaluable.
