Defeat the Duergar Intruders: Guardian Gate Location

Travel to the Myconid Colony

You can start the Defeat the Duergar Intruders by talking to Spaw at the Myconid Colony which is located north of the Underdark.

Enter the Underdark through the Selunite Outpost and keep going northwest until you reach the colony.

Talk to Spaw

Spaw can be found on a giant mushroom (X: 80, Y: -110) next to a bunch of climbable red mushrooms stacked on top of each other.

Talk to him and he'll mention that some of the myconids were slaughtered by duergars and that he wants you to head down to the beach to get rid of them.

Go to the Underdark Beach

Make your way to the Underdark Beach (X: 20, Y: -208) which is directly south of the Myconid Colony.

As you leave the settlement, Sovereign Glut will intervene and ask if he can join you in eliminating the duergars.

If you let him tag along, the duergars will immediately become hostile upon your arrival. Leaving him behind would be a wise choice if you prefer to ambush them.

Defeat the Duergars

Kill all the duergars by the Underdark Beach, they're a bit tough to deal with as some of them have high defense and can summon the undead to join in the fight.

Side With Spaw or Glut

After eliminating the duergars, return to the Myconid Colony and here you'll be presented with two choices that will decide the outcome of the quest:

Either kill Spaw and let Glut become the one and only sovereign, or foil Glut's plans of overthrowing the colony in which the latter will force you to fight him.

Of course you can avoid all this entirely and simply just report back directly to Spaw about killing all the duergars and receive your rewards at the Guardian Gate.

Siding with Spaw

Talk to Glut once you've made your way back to the colony and he'll ask you to get rid of Spaw. Tell him that you won't agree to his request and you'll be forced to fight Glut.

After killing him, report back to Spaw and he'll be glad to hear this. After which he will grant you access to the Guardian Gate to claim your rewards.

Siding with Glut

If you choose to abide to Glut's plans, he will join your party and fight alongside you.

During the battle, be sure to focus only on Spaw and not the other myconids as you'll only need to kill Spaw for the others to stand down.

Take note that you will no longer be able to access the Guardian Gate if you decide to kill Spaw.

Guardian Gate Location

West of Spaw

The Guardian Gate is located west of where Spaw is standing at (X: 53, Y: 72). You can easily find the entrance by looking for a Deep Rothe animal standing beside it.

Rewards

Inside the Guardian Gate, there will be a Pale Corpse and a Backpack containing valuable loot inside.

There will also be a bunch of scrolls such as the Scroll of Ray Sickness, Scroll of Blindness, as well as a Shadow of Menzoberranzan light armor lying on the ground.

Pale Corpse

The Pale Corpse contains the following notable loot:

• Flump Mating Rituals: The book transforms into one that contains information about the Adamantine Forge Side Quest if you pass one of its DCs.
• Hill Giant Finger
• Sylvan Stone
• Icy Metal
• Viridian Crystal

Backpack

The Backpack contains the following notable loot:

• Scroll of False Life
• Scroll of Hold Person
