Baldur
The new epilogue is set about 6 months after the finale of the main story and takes place in Act 1's outside forest camp, one of the first camp areas in the game.

Dialogue Influenced by Player Choices

Baldur
The epilogue contains some much needed closure with the decisions that you've made throughout your journey against the Absolute.

The game looks at some criteria when determining some special dialogue choices and scenes that you can discuss with companions (spoilers ahead):

  • Class-based dialogue options
  • Special Romance dialogue for each companion
  • If the player was a redeemed or unredeemed Dark Urge
  • If the player turned into a Mind Flayer
  • If the player joined Karlach in Avernus

Origin Specific Epilogues

Dark Urge

Baldur
The Dark Urge Origin has three main epilogues depending on the resolution you choose after defeating the Netherbrain.

These epilogues assume that you have not rejected Bhaal in the temple and have accepted his 'gift'. An unredeemed Dark Urge will not have a chance to interact with their companions.

If the player chose to roam freely as the Dark Urge, the Dark Urge will appear at the party, seemingly unhinged and consumed by the urge, plotting to kill everyone there.

If the player chose to imprison the Dark Urge, they will be visited by Withers in an unknown jail cell, forgotten by the world and living in complete isolation. The urge still consumes them, but at least the public will be safe from them.

If the player chose to end the Dark Urge's life, Withers will speak with them in the Fugue Plane, citing that they have successfully repelled the urge.

Secret Epilogues

There are some secret epilogues in the new update. One involving if violence was used in the epilogue area, and new Raphael epilogues were added.

  1. Party Crasher Epilogue
  2. New Raphael Epilogues

Party Crasher Epilogue

Baldur
There is a secret epilogue for players who dare to disrupt the happy festivities of the epilogue area. In this area, engaging in combat is still allowed.

If the player dares to strike at a companion in the party or choose a violent option (this is possible if the player turned into a full illithid), Withers will become disappointed and banish the player to an unknown plane as punishment.

New Raphael Epilogues

Baldur
Previously, the game added an epilogue for Raphael if he was given the Crown of Karsus.

As of Patch 5, Raphael will comment on two new scenarios the player can achieve. There is now a new epilogue scene of him commenting on if the Crown was given to Mystra, and another scene if Gale used the Crown to ascend to godhood.

Raphael will appear regardless if the player kills him in the House of Hope or not, indicating that Raphael did not permanently die in the Hells.

Epilogue Letters

Letters from Across Faerún

On the far left side of the map, near where Withers' room is, there is a chest filled with letters addressed to the player character. These letters contain the epilogues of certain NPCs and characters related to previous quests that were finished in the main campaign.

Some letters are addressed to companions, which were conveniently sent to the player for them to pass on. These letters will change depending on player choices.

A New Character Introduced

Milil, Lord of Songs

Baldur
A new character is introduced in this epilogue area; a mysterious bard named Milil, playing for the party. He reveals that he is actually a lesser deity that Withers banished to the Fugue Plane.

Calling him in for a small favor (and pulling him out from banishment), this former bard deity now serves as entertainment for the festivities that Withers has prepared.
