In Baldur's Gate 3 (BG3), the Underdark is a large underground area with a lot of entrances from certain locations in the Wilderness. Read on to view the maps of the Underdark, and to find out all locations and points of interest in these areas.
Underdark Maps |
---|
|
This map contains the major Underdark area, accessible from a few entrances from the aboveground. This shows all the locations and the entrances only; to view a closer look to the sub-areas of this map showing more points of interest, check the other maps below.
How to Get to the Underdark
This map contains the Ebonlake Grotto where the Myconid Colony resides, located at the north part of the map. East of it is the Storehouse, which has an entrance to the Underdark at the Zhentarim Hideout in the aboveground.
This map contains the Dread Hollow and the Decrepit Village.
The Dread Hollow is the location of the Sussur Tree, located at the westmost point of the Underdark area. To the east of this is the Decrepit Village, which surrounds the Underdark - Beach waypoint, and contains the boat that can take you to the Grymforge.
This map contains most of the outskirts of the Underdark surrounding the Selunite Outpost area in the southeast.
This map contains most of the south part of the Underdark, containing the Arcane Tower.
This map contains the two boats sailing through the Ebonlake. You can only explore this map once: when you use the boat in the Decrepit Village, and only if you decide to attack the other boat.
This map contains The Festering Cove, the tiny underground area underneath the main Underdark area.
Underdark Maps |
---|
|
The Ebonlake Grotto is where the Myconid Colony reside. Most of the residents here are Myconid people with minds connected to the current Sovereign. There are also a few non-Myconid people here.
The Storehouse contains the area where you'll arrive after accessing the Underdark entrance in the Zhentarim Hideout. There are a lot of lootable chests, crates, and other containers in the area.
The Dread Hollow contains the Sussur Tree, where you'll find a bunch of Sussur Bloom, and the Sussur Tree Bark. There are a lot of Hooked Horror enemies roaming the area.
The Decrepit Village, located by the Beach waypoint, is an area with a bunch of Duergar bandits led by Gekh Coal.
The Selunite Outpost is a ruined structure with an active defense mechanism that will attack any intruders that approach from the front entrance. There is an entrance to the Underdark in this area, accessible in the Defiled Temple in the aboveground.
To get inside the structure if you didn't enter through the Defiled Temple, there are a couple ways to do so. You can get inside the Rocky Crevice to the east that can be revealed with a perception check, but you'll need a tiny character like a Gnome to get inside, or be in a Gaseous Form. You can also get through the west window by jumping to the ledge west of the bridge, but you might take some hits this way.
Once inside, simply hit the Moonstone with a ranged attack. Then, hit the lever beside the gate so you can open the front entrance for your other party members.
The Arcane Tower is a tower at the south part of the map, full of powerful Arcane Turrets that will attack you when you approach them. There are a couple of entrances to the tower accessible by going around to the back of the tower.
The Arcane Turrets themselves are weak to electric-based attacks, but you can disable them by disabling their power source located in the lowest floor of the tower.
How to Enter the Arcane Tower
The Ebonlake is the body of water that connects the main Underdark area to the Grymforge. You'll only be here briefly when you encounter the Duergar boat that will question you.
You can only explore the boats by attacking the Duergar; if you leave this area, you won't be able to explore the boats anymore.
The Festering Cove is a tiny swampy area underneath the Underdark, where a small group of Kuo-toa who worship BOOOAL reside. There's a bunch of chests and lots of fish around the area.

We recommend not to immediately complete its quest of overthrowing Spaw; avoid talking to it after defeating the druegar. Glut is an extremely useful companion in the Underdark, as it has the ability to resurrect any enemies (even powerful bosses!) as long as you stay in the Underdark, giving you two extra companions for battle.
Thulla

The Guardian Gate is a bunch of vines that block off an area near Derryth. You can't destroy these vines; the only way to pass through this gate is to complete the first quest assigned to you by Spaw, Protect the Myconid Circle.
Note that if you chose to kill Spaw by helping Glut, you won't be able to open this gate and access its contents forever. To avoid this, don't progress Glut's quest by talking to him; directly talk to Spaw after defeating the druegar.
Pale Corpse: The Great Furnace of Grymforge |
---|
Coordinates: (52, -72) |
Accessible in the room behind the Guardian Gate, the Pale Corpse contains a few valuables in his possession: most important of which is The Great Furnace of Grymforge. Note that it will first appear in his inventory as the Flumph Mating Rituals, and you'll have to pass the check while reading it to reveal the book's true form.
Reading this book allows you to know how to operate the Adamantine Forge once you find it.
Shadow of Menzaberranzan |

At the southeast part of the Dread Hollow, you'll find a Tombstone. Interact with it and dig the grave up to get the Dog Collar amulet. There are no negative effects to doing this act.

Coordinates: (-9, -213) |
The Underdark Druegar Boat is the boat owned by Gekh Coal, and the mode of transportation that allows you to travel to the Grymforge. You can sail with this boat even if Gekh Coal is still alive, but if you come back to the beach, he'll be angry and will be immediately be hostile to you.
When you sail with this boat for the first time, a Druegar boat will question you, and depending on your choices, will either attack you or let you go safely.

Ornate Door |
---|
Coordinates: (-20, -283) |
The Ornate Door is the front entrance to the Arcane Tower. It is not recommended to enter through this entrance until you've disabled the Arcane Turrets, since you'll have to deal with these turrets outside and inside the tower.

---|
Coordinates: (118, -251) |
The Spectator can be found to the west of the Selunite Outpost. You won't be able to see it; you just need to walk through the area full of petrified people. It will do a surprise attack against you; there's no way to avoid this.
