Dawnmaster Puzzle (Rosymorn Monastery Puzzle)

This is a walkthrough on how to solve the Dawnmaster Stained Glass Puzzle in Rosymorn Monastery in Baldur's Gate 3 (BG3). Read on to know how to get all three weapons, how to defeat the enemies, and where to find the items' locations!

How to Solve the Dawnmaster Puzzle

Interact with the Stained-Glass Window

When you enter the Dawnmaster room, interact with the large Stained-Glass Window on the floor and observe what weapon each of the Dawnmasters are holding. You may notice that one of the Dawnmaster's stained-glass is broken, but it is easy to deduce which one is his when you collect all three.

Find the Ceremonial Weapons

To solve the puzzle, you will need to collect the missing weapons scattered throughout the monastery. Particularly, you will need to find the Ceremonial Mace, Ceremonial Battleaxe, and Ceremonial Warhammer.

Throw The Weapons on the Pedestal

Once you have acquired all three ceremonial weapons, head back to the Dawnmaster room and throw the ceremonial weapons on the appropriate pedestal to open a small chamber that holds a pouch containing the Dawnmaster's Crest.

How to Find the Ceremonial Weapons

Ceremonial Mace

The Ceremonial Mace can be found by looting one of the drunk kobolds in the ground floor.

Enter the Room with Drunk Kobolds

From the second floor, you can head down to the room with Kobolds by breaking the barrier the leads to the outside pool. Jump on the rock platform and follow the path leading down to the ground floor.

If you are at the entrance of the monastery where the cutscene with the Githyanki happened, look for the broken window to the side of the giant doors and jump through.

Defeat the Kobolds

The drunk Kobolds are highly combustible because of the amount of alcohol they drank. You can easily defeat them by using Fire spells to make them take lots of AOE damage. After killing them, inspect their corpses until you find one holding the Ceremonial Mace.

Ceremonial Battleaxe

You can find the Ceremonial Battleaxe in the Guardian of Faith room on the same floor. Jump across a tree vine, and ahead you will see the Enchanted Door. However, it is barricaded from the other side, so you will need to enter somewhere else.

Use the Dawnmaster Room Window

Go back to the Dawnmaster room and jump through the open window and onto the balcony. There you will find another broken window leading into the Guardian of Faith room. Simply jump again through the window to get inside.

Defeat the Guardian of Faith

To retrieve the Ceremonial Battleaxe, you need to defeat the Guardian of Faith inside. While you can beat it directly through pure melee, there is a safer way to defeat the Guardian.

The easiest way is by using ranged attacked, spells, or cantrips to defeat it since it does not move and will not attack anyone outside of its circle of range. Once you take it out, pick up the battleaxe on the floor.

Ceremonial Warhammer

Approach the Giant Eagle's Nest

Look for the knotted roots near the Guardian of Faith room and climb up the rooftop. The Ceremonial Warhammer can be found in the nest of the Ancient Giant Eagle.

Sneak or Kill the Eagles

Once there, you will be confronted by the Ancient Giant Eagle. If you approach it, you can calm it down by passing an Animal Handling skill check, and then sneak your way to its nest to grab the warhammer. Alternatively, you can also just sneak all the way to the nest without having the eagles notice your presence.

If you failed the check, the eagles will become hostile and you will be forced to fight them. You can defeat them by taking down the smaller eagle first, and then focus on the ancient one. Be careful of its attacks since it can push you off the roof and deal significant fall damage.

Rewards for Solving the Dawnmaster Puzzle

Dawnmaster's Crest

When you solve the Dawnmaster Puzzle, you will receive the Dawnmaster's Crest found inside the pouch from the hidden chamber. You will need this item to complete the Find the Blood of Lathander side quest.
