In Baldur's Gate 3 (BG3), the Arcane Tower is the tower located at the southmost part of the main Underdark area. Read on to view the maps of all the floors of Arcane Tower, and to find out all the points of interest in the tower.
List of Contents
1st Floor: Power Generator | 2nd Floor: Mushroom Floor |
3rd Floor: Main Entrance | 4th Floor: Bedroom |
5th Floor: Top Floor | Basement |
Note that we have decided to put the 1st floor as the same floor as the garden, located much lower than the main entrance's floor. The main entrance floor near the Arcane Turrets is counted as the 3th floor.
The 1st Floor is where the Power Generator and the garden is. This is the floor that you should prioritize getting into first, since the elevator won't work until you powered it with the Power Generator. You can reach this by jumping through the giant mushrooms beside the tower.
Note that there are stairs that lead up to the elevator, but we counted this tiny floor area as also being in the 1st floor with the Power Generator.
The 2nd Floor is a room with a lot of mushrooms. If you're doing the Help Omeluum Investigate the Parasite path in the Find a Cure main quest, you'll find the materials needed in this floor.
The 3rd floor is the room you'll encounter if you enter through the main entrance by the Underdark. Just like the outside of the Arcane Tower, there will be a couple of Arcane Turrets active inside until you destroy them or power the generator in the 1st floor.
The 4th floor is a mostly ruined floor that used to be a bedroom. This floor contains the The Roads to Darkness book, which you need to read to safely get the Guiding Light in the top floor without going into combat with the automatons there.
The 5th floor is the top floor, and is full of automatons that will attack you if you choose the wrong dialogue option when talking to Bernard. You'll be able to get to the basement by finding the Guiding Light item in this floor.
The basement is located below the 1st floor, but the elevator button to access it can be activated with an item that can only be found in the top floor.
Arcane Tower Points of Interest |
---|
|
Power Generator |
---|
Coordinates: (-36, -283) |
The Power Generator is located in the middle of the 1st floor. You can interact with it and will be given a popup to combine items; the other item that you need for combining is a piece of Sussur Bloom. There are a lot of these in the Sussur Tree area in the Underdark, as well as couple of them just outside in the garden.
1st Floor Entrance: Hole |
---|
Coordinates: (-50, -302) |
This Hole is one of the entrances to the 1st floor. You'll be able to reveal it with a perception check.
It is a very tiny passage; you won't be able to enter this even if you have a tiny race character. You'll need to be in a gaseous form; there's a Scroll of Gaseous Form nearby in the garden that you can use to enter.
1st Floor Entrance: Locked Door |
---|
Coordinates: (-52, -293) |
The 1st floor also has a locked door that you can lockpick to enter from the outside. From the inside, there's a lever beside to open the door if it's still locked.
Gilded Chest: Uncovered Mysteries |
---|
Coordinates: (-49, -281) |
Up the stairs in the room, near the elevator, you'll find a Gilded Chest. Open it to find the rare Uncovered Mysteries accessory.
How to Get Uncovered Mysteries
Threadbare Book |
---|
Coordinates: (-51, -288) |
The Threadbare Book is an item that can be read; there's no immediate effect, but it will be useful later on once you talk to Bernard in the top floor.
Reading this book unlocks a dialogue choice for Bernard, which when chosen will make him drop the Guiding Light item on a table nearby, instead of you having to fight him for it.
Timmask Spores |
---|
Coordinates: (-43, -271) |
The Timmask Spores are a collectible material. If you're doing the Help Omeluum Investigate the Parasite path in the Find a Cure main quest, this is one of the items needed for the quest, found in a shelf in the 2nd floor.
Tongue of Madness |
---|
Coordinates: (-30, -295) |
The Tongue of Madness is a collectible material. If you're doing the Help Omeluum Investigate the Parasite path in the Find a Cure main quest, this is one of the items needed for the quest, found planted on soil in the 2nd floor.
Ornate Door |
---|
Coordinates: (-24, -282) |
The Ornate Door is the main entrance of the Arcane Tower, and you'll find it locked. You can lockpick it if you want, but it has a key that can be obtained by killing Bernard in the tower's top floor.
It's actually pointless to lockpick or get the key for this door, since there's an opening to the tower that you can easily enter just a few steps south of the door.
Open Window |
---|
Coordinates: (-23, -295) |
If you don't want to bother lockpicking the Ornate Door or finding its key, you can enter the 3rd floor from the Underdark through the open window south of the main door.
Arcane Turrets |
---|
Coordinates: (-34, -295) |
Inside the 3rd floor, if you haven't activated the Power Generator yet, these Arcane Turrets will still be active and will periodically attack you as long as you're within their range. They are weak to lightning attacks and can be disabled with a Sussur Bloom near them.
How to Turn Off the Arcane Turrets
Chest of the Mundane |
---|
Coordinates: (-34, -264) |
In the north terrace of the 3rd floor, you'll find the Chest of the Mundane, likely the most valuable item inside the tower. It appears to be a chest container with a few pieces of junk inside, but this is not real and the items inside are actually valuables when you take them out.
You can carry this chest and make use of its effect: all items that you put inside it becomes 0.5 weight, making it useful for carrying much heavier items inside. They'll still appear as junk though and you'll likely have no idea what item they are until you take them out.
Engraved Githyanki Disc |
---|
Coordinates: (-32, -298) |
In a shelf in the 4th floor, you'll find this Engraved Githyanki Disc. If you have a githyanki in your party like Lae'zel, you'll be able to read the disc without issue. Otherwise, you need to pass the Investigation check to decipher the text.
You can pick up the nearby cipher on the table at (-35, -288), The Careful Art of Tir'su Ciphers, which allows you to read the text inside.
Reading this disc starts the Discover the history of Prince Orpheus quest, and turns the disc into the Orpheus, Prince of the Comet, Part One: Betrayal.
The Roads to Darkness |
---|
Coordinates: (-28, -297) |
The Roads to Darkness is a book that can be read; there's no immediate effect, but it will be useful later on once you talk to Bernard in the top floor.
Reading this book unlocks a dialogue choice for Bernard, which when chosen will make him friendly. This is the only way to stop Bernard from attacking you.
Button |
---|
Coordinates: (-25, -270) |
At the northeast corner of the room, you'll find a Button that seemingly doesn't do anything. To find out what this button does, you need a character to equip a Dog Collar, which can be found at a Tombstone at the south part of the Dread Hollow area in the Underdark.
When you press the button with a Dog Collar equipped, one piece of Raw Steak will appear once. After that, the Button and Dog Collar will be useless after.
Bernard |
---|
Coordinates: (-29, -284) |
Upon reaching the 5th floor, Bernard, the Guardian of the Enchanted Tower, will immediately confront you. If you pick the Or art thou friend, a rescue from my lonely wake? dialogue option, he will become friendly; otherwise, picking any other options will cause him and his fellow automatons nearby to attack you. This option will only appear after you read the The Roads to Darkness in the 4th floor.
If you kill him, you'll get the Guiding Light if he didn't drop it on the table yet, the Light of Creation weapon, and the key that opens the Arcane Tower's main entrance door.
Guiding Light |
---|
Coordinates: (-28, -289) |
The Guiding Light is an accessory; have it equipped to make the Basement button appear on the elevator, which will take you to the basement of the Arcane Tower.
Bernard has this item, and you'll have to either kill him for it, or choose the How can I trust? How will I ever know? dialogue option, which you'll only get after reading the Threadbare Book in the 2nd floor. If you opted for the latter, Bernard will drop the ring on the table nearby.
Basement Lever |
---|
Coordinates: (-44, -296) |
There's a Lever at the east part of the floor beside the shelf, which you'll only see with a perception check. This lever unlocks the passage between the Basement and the 1st floor.
Don't worry if you don't see this Lever, it doesn't unlock anything except a quick way between those two aforementioned floors.
Basement Gilded Chest |
---|
Coordinates: (159, -430) |
At the south part of the floor, there's a Gilded Chest with a lot of good items inside, including the uncommon The Sparkswall accessory.
Staff of Arcane Blessing |
---|
Coordinates: (163, -432) |
You'll find the uncommon Staff of Arcane Blessing weapon standing up by the shelves at the south part of the floor.
