Getting access to the Tiefling Hideout means being able to talk to the children's leader, Mol, who can request to steal the Sacred Idol in exchange for the Ring of Protection.
You can question Mol for some background on why the children have a thieves guild while you are here. You can steal items from them, but doing so in plain sight will cause them to run away (they return eventually.)
If you enter the Tiefling Hideout without going easy on Silfy (one of the Tiefling pickpockets) after a Perception Check, or not saving Mirkon, Mol will warn you and tell you to leave.
Despite Mol's threats, finishing the countdown she set for you to leave will only cause them to run away from their hideout. If the Tieflings have pickpocketed you prior to this, they'll leave with your belongings.
Entering the Tiefling Hideout |
---|
|
Doni can be encountered for the first time in front of the Concealed Entrance to the Tiefling Hideout (this entrance can be seen with a Perception Check).
Talking to him and choosing to check on what he is gazing at behind you will cause him to disappear into the entrance. You will not be able to access the hideout for a while when this happens.
To get Doni to appear again, you can fast travel to a Waypoint on the map then return to the Concealed Entrance. Talking to him for the second time will allow you to use Skill Check dialogue options with him.
If you saved Mirkon who is held captive by the harpies at the Secluded Cove, he will give you a password which you can use to gain access to the Tiefling Hideout.
Saving Mirkon will ensure that you will be able to enter the Tiefling Hideout without angering Mol.

Result: Doni will disappear. Fast travel using a Waypoint on the map to get him to appear again quickly. |
If you wish to access the hideout without Mirkon, you can initiate Skill Checks while talking with Doni the second time you meet him.
Succeeding in the Insight Check dialogue option above will give you access to the two more Skill Checks below.

[PERSUASION (DC10)] Is it a chest? A door? Can you show me where it is? |

[DETECT THOUGHTS (DC10)] Read his mind. |
Success: Doni gives access to the Tiefling Hideout. [red]Failure:[/red: Access to Bribe Doni. |
When any of these Skill Checks are successful, Doni will grant you access to the Tiefling Hideout.
If you fail any of the Skill Checks, Doni can still be bribed for 10 Gold to give you access to the hideout.
Behind Mattis, one of the Tiefling pickpockets that can be found selling wares on the path to the east past Doni, is a ladder that will lead to a hole that serves as an alternative passage to the Tiefling Hideout.
This can be accessed only if you are physically small enough to fit in (such as a Gnome) or if you make use of an Enlarge-Reduce spell.
The Tiefling pickpockets Mattis and Silfy, who are found on the path to the east past the Concealed Entrance can hint at the hideout through an event that leads you to Find Your Belongings.
This is initiated when you realize that you have been pickpocketed or when you catch Silfy trying to pickpocket you (both happen with a Perception Check).
Going easy on Silfy when you catch him pickpocketing you ensures that you can get inside the Tiefling Hideout without angering Mol. If you lose your belongings before catching Silfy, you will have to proceed with saving Mirkon.
How to Avoid Tiefling Pickpockets
Mirkon's Location |
---|
Mirkon is a young Tiefling that can be saved at the Secluded Cove from the harpies. Saving him will give you a password to the Tiefling Hideout. Prioritize the harpies that use a song to lure Mirkon when you get to him!
Once he is saved, head over to Doni at the hideout's Concealed Entrance and give him Mirkon's password. This will grant you access to the hideout at any time.
Failing to save Mirkon can lock you out from getting inside the Tiefling Hideout without angering Mol. If Mirkon was killed at the Secluded Cove and you have not yet interacted with the pickpockets, you still have a chance to access the place on friendlier terms through Silfy.
A request for stealing the Sacred Idol can be taken from Mol inside the Tiefling Hideout when you are on friendly terms with her (from going easy on Silfy when he is caught pickpocketing, or saving Mirkon).
When completing this request, you can give the Sacred Idol to Mol for the Ring of Protection, or keep it instead for Silvanus' Blessing.
