Save the Refugees

This is a walkthrough for the Save the Refugees sidequest in Baldur's Gate 3. Read on to learn how to unlock the quest and how to end the conflict in the Druid Grove and help the Tieflings leave.

How to Start Save the Refugees

Speak to Zevlor

After fending off the Goblins attacking the gates of The Hollow, speak to Tiefling Zevlor who will tell you about their current situation with the druids of Emerald Grove.

He asks you to speak to the Druid Kagha who wants to shut down the grove and evict the Tiefling refugees.

Speak with Kagha Return to Zevlor

Speak with Kagha

Kagha wants to remove the Tiefling refugees and close down the grove to protect against goblin attacks. She will ask you to return to Zevlor and offer your services to him so they can leave the Emerald Grove.

Return to Zevlor

Return to Zevlor who is now located on the south-eastern side of The Hollow behind the Stone Door. Speak to him and you will be presented with several options.

Kill the Goblin Leaders

Zevlor and the refugees can't leave the grove due to a Goblin Horde nearby. He tells you that the only way for the Tieflings to leave the grove safely is for you to clear out the goblins and take out its three leaders.

This option will take you to the Goblin Camp and the Shattered Sanctum where you'll need to defeat the three powerful Goblin leaders and their small army of goblins, bugbears, and trolls.

Find Halsin

Talk to Rath who will tell you to that Halsin can help settle the problem with the Tiefling refugees, which will lead to the Save the First Druid sidequest.

This option also has you go to the Goblin Camp and will also force you to wipe out the three leaders to escape.

Kill Kagha

Another option is to simply attack and kill Kagha, however, this will aggro all Druids in the Emerald Grove, and they will start attacking the Tiefling refugees.

Because the druids have powerful shapeshifters and spells, it's possible for them to wipe out the Tiefling refugees and potentially lock you out of key characters such as Dammon and Zorru who can advance Karlach and Lae'zel's companion questlines respectively.

Save the Refugees Rewards

Killing the Goblin Leaders or Find Halsin

Killing the Goblin Leaders or Finding Halsin allows you to end the Save the Refugees quest on a peaceful note between the Druids and the Tiefling Refugees.

After making camp, the Tieflings will make their way back to Baldur's Gate and the Druids will no longer need to close down the Emerald Grove.

Rath will reward you with the Wolf Rune, giving you access to the Druid's vault. Additionally, completing this sidequest opens up different paths to the Main Quest.

Where to Get the Wolf Rune

Killing Kagha

Killing Kagha will cause you to wipe out the druids and potentially the Tiefling refugees. This gives you access to all the loot you can find in The Hollow and Emerald Grove, at the cost of killing some important npcs for your companions.

This path also still rewards you access to the Wolf Rune to loot and the contents of the druid's vault by looting it from Rath after killing him.
