Found Under Scuffed Rock Near Astarion in the Wilderness

Harper's Chest is located underneath the Scuffed Rock, which can be found inside a small, shallow cove in the Wilderness, just below the cliffs where you meet Astarion after the Nautiloid's crash.

To reach this area, you will need to perform a Jump down from the path and walk along the coast until you reach the small cove.

How to Move the Scuffed Rock

Pass a Nature Check with a Difficulty Class of 10

Baldur

In order to reveal the Scuffed Rock and be able to move it, at least one of your party members must pass a DC 10 for Nature. If you have Shadowheart or a Cleric in your party, make sure to cast Guidance before approaching the Scuffed Rock.

Note: As an added measure, you can quick save right before you approach the Scuffed Rock so that you can quick load if everyone in your party fails the Nature Check.

What is a Difficulty Class (DC)

Lift the Scuffed Rock Upwards by Dragging and Dropping It

After you pass the Nature Check, you can click, drag, and drop the Scuffed Rock towards the back of the cave. Putting it to the side or pulling it towards you will not be possible.

Once lifted, you will find an Ornate Chest that contains some loot.

Characters with High Strength and Athletics Can Move it Easier

Low Strength characters will barely be able to move the rock and you'll need to do multiple tries to drag and drop it to a different location. However, a character that has a higher Str score can move it just a little bit farther which can easily expose the chest behind the Scuffed Rock.

Harper's Chest Location

Underneath the Scuffed Rock

Harper's Chest is located under the Scuffed Rock, identified as Ornate Chest in the game.

One of the items inside the chest is Harper's Map, which when read will mark a Hidden Cache in your game map.

Harper's Hidden Cache Location

Go West from the Emerald Grove Entrance

To get to the Hidden Cache, go west from the Emerald Grove entrance. Along the path, you'll find some elevated ground at around (183, 410); use the Jump action to get up the ledge.

Proceed through the path, climbing up the Cragged Rock, then go up the Ladder to reach the Hidden Cache area.

Hidden Cache Rewards

Heavy Chest Containing Minor Loot

In the upper platform in the Hidden Cache area, there's a Heavy Chest which you can check for loot. The chest itself contains a minor amount of gold and some gemstone.

Other Points of Interest Near Hidden Cache

Skeleton

A skeleton is lying down by the campfire in the area; it'll be holding an item if you examine it.

Wooden Barrel

There are a few Wooden Barrels in the area; you'll find some potions inside the southwest one.

Rocky Crevice: Spider Egg Sac

The most noteworthy item that you can loot near the Hidden Cache is the Spider Egg Sac, a single-use item that can summon spiders that help you in battle. It is located in a Pouch that you can get in the spiderling nest inside the cracked rock near the campfire.

You'll have to pass the perception check to spot the Rocky Crevice. Then, interact with the Rocky Crevice and pass the checks to get the pouch that contains the Spider Egg Sac.
