Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Reveals New Free Characters
Red, Majima, and Arle Join The Roster
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has revealed three crossover characters joining the game through a free update arriving in April and May 2026, as announced by SEGA on March 17 through its official social media channels, including a trailer on YouTube.
Red, the central character of the Angry Birds mobile franchise, known for its slingshot gameplay, will join the roster in April 2026, driving the Super Roaster. As seen in the trailer, his design appears to be based on his 2016 animated film version rather than his original in-game look.

Goro Majima (Captain Majima), appearing in his Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii version, will also arrive in April 2026 with a vehicle based on his ship, the Goromaru, while Arle will follow in May 2026, joining the roster from Puyo Puyo and racing in the Twinkle Bayoen, a vehicle that matches her character design.
The update will also introduce a new "Sega Racing & Variety" music pack, adding tracks from classic SEGA racing titles to the in-game jukebox. The following songs have been confirmed:
⚫︎ "Let’s Go Away" by Takenobu Mitsuyoshi – Daytona USA
⚫︎ "Main Theme" by Hiro – Enduro Racer
⚫︎ "Magical Sound Shower" by Hiro – Out Run
⚫︎ "Like the Wind (Reborn)" by Sampling Masters MEGA – Power Drift
⚫︎ "Soul on Desert" by Jun Senoue – SEGA Rally 2
⚫︎ "Outride a Crisis" by Katsuhiro "Funky K.H" Hayashi – Super Hang-On
⚫︎ "Like The Wind (B Course) Arcade Version" by Hiro – Power Drift
⚫︎ "God Only Knows" by A-One – Initial D: The Arcade
More Characters Planned as Updates Continue

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has continued to expand its roster through ongoing updates, with Red, Majima, and Arle forming the second wave of free characters added in 2026. Earlier additions also included crossover guests such as Joker from Persona 5, Ichiban Kasuga from Like a Dragon, and Hatsune Miku, a virtual singer and digital idol, all of whom were introduced in the weeks following release.
The first wave of free updates began in December 2025 with NiGHTS, the protagonist of SEGA’s NiGHTS series, followed by AiAi from Super Monkey Ball in January. Tangle and Whisper, two characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog IDW comics, were then added in a free update released on February 25.

The game has also received paid DLC through a Season Pass, adding crossover characters such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Minecraft characters, and Pac-Man, with additional themed content scheduled for release later in 2026. SEGA has indicated that this rollout will continue throughout the year. In an interview with Famitsu published in January 2026, director Masaru Kohayakawa said, "We plan to deliver content throughout the 2026 season, but we’ve also prepared even more surprises than at launch," adding that the team aims to make this "a year that surprises you all!"
