Is Toughness Worth It?

Good for Buffing Up Your Defense

Toughness gives damage resistance and allows you to take more hits in a battle. It's a great perk to have, as you will be swarmed and take hits from more enemies as you progress in the game.

Additionally, its first rank is available at Endurance 1, making it easier to unlock almost after getting the Pip-Boy.

Rank 1 - Instantly gain +10 Damage Resistance.
Rank 2 9 Instantly gain +20 Damage Resistance.
Rank 3 18 Instantly gain +30 Damage Resistance.
Rank 4 31 Instantly gain +40 Damage Resistance.
Rank 5 46 Instantly gain +50 Damage Resistance.

How to Get Toughness

Unlock Toughness at Endurance 1

Fallout 4 Toughness Perk
Toughness is on Endurance Level 1

The Toughness perk is unlocked when your Endurance is at Level 1. You can start at this level by assigning 1 point to Endurance during the Registration Form at the start of the game. Otherwise, you can get to this level by collecting SPECIAL magazines or bobbleheads and spending perk points upon level up.

After getting to Endurance 1, you're free to spend perk points on ranking up the skill, as long as you are at the required character level to rank up.
