Omeluum Location: Should You Let Him Cure You?

Reach The Myconid Colony

Omeluum is a friendly Mindflayer that can be found in the Myconid Colony within the Underdark.

Players coming from the elevator in the Zhentarim Hideout need to travel southward to reach the Myconid Colony. Players coming from the Selunite Outpost will instead need to travel north upon entering the Underdark.

Speak to Blurg

Omeluum cannot be found wandering around the Myconid Colony. Players will first need to speak with colleague, a hobgoblin named Blurg in order to spawn Omeluum into the area.

Speaking to Blurg and telling him the truth about the Illithid tadpole will prompt him to telepathically call Omeluum.

Players who allow Omeluum to search their mind will come to learn that Omeluum cannot extract the tadpole because it is in stasis.

Progressing through more of Omeluum's dialogue will reveal a quest to help Omeluum obtain mushrooms to brew a potion that might remove the tadpole's barrier.

Obtain The Mushrooms

Trusting Omeluum and progressing through his quest will task the player with obtaining Tongue of Madness and Timmask Spores. Both these mushrooms are obtainable in the Arcane Tower, as well as various parts of the Underdark.

Drink the Potion

Upon submitting the ingredients to Omeluum, players will then be tasked with drinking the finished potion. Once imbibed, players will be subjected to different dialogue skill checks.

It is worth noting that passing or failing any of these dialogue choices does not noticeably impact the outcome of drinking the potion or any further dialogue.

Obtain the Ring of Mind-Shielding

Omeluum will reveal that while he cannot remove the tadpole, he can limit its influence with the Ring of Mind-Shielding.

Players can purchase the ring from Omeluum or succeed an intimidation check to obtain the ring for free.

Once the ring has been obtained, the journal entry should be marked as completed.

Should You Let Omeluum Cure You?

Trusting Omeluum

Trusting Omeluum will allow the player to obtain the Ring of Mind-Shielding peacefully. This also keeps both Omeluum and Blurg alive and available as traders, giving players access to convenient NPCs when they want to sell the loot they find in the Underdark.

Attacking Omeluum

Attacking Omeluum at any point, or by selecting hostile dialogue while conversing with him will result in a fight. Both Omeluum and Blurg will turn temporarily hostile against the player and their party.

Killing Omeluum and Blurg will allow players to loot the rare items they would normally sell the player, including the Ring of Mind-Shielding.

It's worth noting that the Myconids do not turn hostile against the player after killing both Blurg and Omeluum.
